$6 million is a steep price, but it is a beautiful and unique car. There were only five of this particular vintage made. I wonder if they will have on display somewhere or just keep it as a prized possession.

The entire auction for that car is linked in that page. It is amazing to watch millions get spent so rapidly.

I went on Saturday. Drove over from Bradenton. It was in pretty nice shape. Last year they had the Steve McQueen Bullitt Mustang that went for big bucks. That was rough. ( Being nice.) The cars this year were really good. The average price was way up. Crowds were like 1/2 of last year. Had a great time.

My local Corvette Club (Lone Star) drives the cars for Mecum here at the Dallas auction and I have volunteered many times to do it.
Gotten to drive some pretty cool cars....and some rather mundane Thursday auction cars.

I read something recently about them finding one of the Bullitt Mustangs...it was one that was used for the stunts as it had a bunch of modifications for that? (so it wasn't like you'd just drive it around)
No idea if the story was true or has anything to do with the one you saw last year?

Found this about it:

Yes ! That's the one I saw last year at Mecum-Kissimmee. It was not in good shape. But if you have 1 of the only Mustangs that was used in the movie. Then I guess that makes it collectible. It went for big$$$$. LOL !! I must be missing the concept of collecting here. This year someone had a replica of "Eleanor" from the movie " Gone in 60 Seconds." Now that was nice. It was spotless. And holy crap did it make a rumble. That's the one I would have bid on.( If I was ever so inclined to spend $ 383,000 on a collector car.)

They found one of the stunt Mustangs in a junkyard in Mexico. They were able to identify it by some of the modifications that were done to the chassis to stiffen it up. It was pretty far gone so I done remember if somebody bought it to try and restore.

Not that I have the money to be a car collector but I can understand someone who does wanting something they can have and say "James Dean or Steve McQueen etc drove this"

If you're ever in Vegas (or just going thru there, as I do) stop at the Shelby museum/factory just outside of town.... an AMAZING collection. My fav was the polished aluminum one....

I have never been to Vegas...maybe one day after things settle down it'd be a neat place to experience...just do the touristy stuff.

It also has the MG that Shelby got his first win in.

the best part about vegas, imo, are the cheap flights and easy access to some VERY cool national parks....and American Indian places...
Absolutely. If you have two or three weeks, fly into Vegas and drive around the Grand Canyon. Hoover Dam, Mesa Verde, Petrified Forest, South Rim, Colorado National, Black Canyon, North Rim, Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce, Zion, etc., etc.

The Shelby Cobra is my dream car. This version is the one I've wanted since I was a kid....

The Super Snake 800 hp

The Hopi mesas (which are inside the Navajo reservation) were astounding.... literally like being on another planet. Don't think you can get up there anymore, but if you can, a 'must see.'
