Crackdown on Service Animal Frauds on Delta

I have a friend that his very high strung and volatile. He also drinks A lot! He gets in a lot of fights so his wife gave him a 5 lb. Chihuahua to carry at all times. It keeps him from getting to drunk and killing somebody, seriously. He knows if anything happens to the little dog his wife will kill him. Hey, it works!

As a frequent flier, I began noticing the sharp rise in people bringing their pets about a year ago. People can apparently go online and order a "service animal" vest for their dog for less than $50. So word has gotten around, and people do this so they can avoid fees and rules imposed by the airlines for non-service animals. I don't think it's too much to ask that service animals receive training. Flying is stressful for a lot of people, and animals get stressed too. People are abusing the rules, and ruining it for those who have legitimate service animals.

I'm glad Delta stepped up. I expect they will add some data fields on profiles for frequent fliers to put information in about service animal certificates.

We had someone sitting directly behind us on the flight back from the miami game this year that had a support dog. It was a French bulldog that had anxiety through the roof. The passenger asked the stewardess for water for the dog, she came back with a bottle. I fully expected her to pull out a little bowl to poor it in. Nope! She proceeded to try and pour the water into the dogs mouth, water every where on the floor next to her and the poor random person sitting next to her. Nearly the entire bottle of water spilled on the floor and she couldn’t care less. The dog was panting and trying to pace the entire flight.
