I've been waiting for the J&J since it's just one shot. But...this week we find out that it's only about 70-75% effective, and 85% for severe cases.
The other two are 90% or better but require two jabs.
Not sure which way to go now.

I got my second Pfizer shot yesterday. No problem and my HMO in Tally has done a great job of organizing and scheduling. There were old people running around everywhere and I thought it would be chaotic. Instead, I just walked in, no wait and right out the door.

Obviously a very personal decision, and you have to do what YOU want to do.

PERSONALLY, I would probably trend for the highest possible effectiveness rate.....the 25-30% non-effectiveness rate with J&J is a material hole (in my view). Good luck!

Seems like a no brainer to get Pfizer right now. If you contract covid while you were waiting you will be kicking yourself.

85% against severe illness is a good number. There were also no deaths in the J&J study. I’m not sure if I will be given a choice but I would be comfortable with all 3.

I’ve had both doses of Pfizer. I hope they push J&J to the younger population and save Pfizer and Moderna for older folks or the preexisting group.

Mom, I got my second Phizer vaccination Saturday. I can't overstate how relieved that makes me feel.

My advice is like that of some of the posters above: if you can obtain one of the shots this week, you'll almost certainly get the second one before J&J's one-shot vaccine is available. Even if it comes out in the next few weeks, in the interim you will be protected partially, whereas if you wait, you might be trading a little convenience for the bad luck of running across somebody who is infected and spreads it to you.

Stay safe.

Probably not going to get any of them since I don't fit into a high-risk category but if I were to get one I'd get the J &J or AstraZeneca since they're similar to flu vaccines and not synthetic mRNA. The viral vector is way more trustworthy when it comes to vaccines especially long term been more proven but again I'm only 34 and of relatively good health less High-risk categories.

I am having a hard time understanding why educators are not being considered as one of the 1st groups to be offered the vaccine? We deal with the age group who sees no danger at all in this virus and most look at as something that will not impact them. The group you rarely see wearing a mask when out in public and the group who are constantly in big gatherings.

In KY nearly all teachers have received 1st dose. The priority order in KY went hospital staff/nursing homes then first responders/teachers.

This week we started anyone over 70 can get it, so teachers where darn near top of list. There has been no in person school in many parts of the state since March 2019.

No, I don't anticipate being eligible for it until maybe August.
I think it’s before that. J&J says they’ll have 100M doses in the US by end of Q2 (June) and both Moderna and Pfizer have said they’ll have 100M doses each by end of Q1 (March). So the supply is going to ramp up. Remember, there are something 260M adults in this country and prob a full 1/4 won’t get the vaccine for whatever reason. So really we’re only looking at needing to get 200M people done. I just hope the people who choose not to don’t keep this thing around allowing it to continue to mutate, but im afraid that’s what we as a society deserve.

It was always going to mutate, as all viruses do. They know this and we’re expecting it. Not sure why the rhetoric is over the top about it right not.
From June.

Which doesn’t mean there should be time wasted in getting people vaccinated.

My fiance got her second Moderna already, but she's a frontline worker in the medical field. I won't be able to get mine for a little bit and I am sure my antibodies have dwindled down by now.

Just get down and dirty and go for it! Got my first pfizer (.3 ml) today! Will be back in three weeks.
Dr. Phil Pfizer Good

Capital Health Plan had all hands on deck today, we received shot #2 and were out of there in 20 minutes. Their operation was very impressive.

Interestingly my mother in law was vaccinated with both Pfizer doses. It’s been weeks since dose 2. Her doctor ordered an antibody test to confirm protection and it came back negative.

In Tennessee, you don’t get out of your car. You go to Vol State CC in my county. You stop at first station to provide ID. Then next station you get the shot. Decided it was time to bite the bullet and get it over with.

"Antibody tests indicate you had a previous infection and that you may have some level of protection against the virus. Experts are currently looking at how COVID-19 vaccination may affect antibody testing results."

I work in healthcare and vaccine hesitancy is an interest...would you mind expanding on this?

Do you normally take the flu vax?
I was a the Service for 39 years and retired in 2018.. I started getting the flu vaccine about 8 years ago when I was 50 yo and the department was providing it. I want to see the results of this Covid vaccine for a few year before taking it. I am curious to know how many people who received the flu vaccine last year developed Covid. It would be an interesting study.

Very interesting. There were rumblings a couple months back that it could play a factor in protection. Haven’t heard anything since so it must be good news. 😁

Didn't help my Mom and she got her flu shot every year like clockwork.
Also, the most at risk folks are all on Medicare and get their mega dose flu shots for next to nothing if not free.

Doctors and Insurance Companies really highly recommend seniors take flu shots and two different pneumonia shots. I got 1st Pfizer shot today, after my Doctor recommended it and I did a lot of research.

My wife and I will be getting our second Moderna shot in a week or two.... we were wondering if you had any 'effects' as some have mentioned flu-like symptoms for a couple of days.... TIA! :~)
Spoke to my brother today who received the 2nd Moderna dose yesterday at lunch. Said his arm was a little sore and his temperature was fluctuating a little. It wasn't affecting his day too much.
