Just to play devils advocate why didn't the drone evade? It looks to me in the video that the drone strikes the jet and the drone pilot had ample time to turn and dive to avoid contact. Maybe I missed something?
Probably didn't expect the moron Russian pilot to hit him. Me, I'd have been tempted to pull up and hit the SU-27 and take it out. 😈
So I read where that Mig or another dumped fuel on it before the collision. Maybe they were trying a napalm type thing with it. It looks like the Mig was turning up and away but was too close at that point. The drone could have easily taken out the Mig as well.
Video showed 2 passes dumping fuel. On the second pass you can see that the Mig pilot lost sight of the drone and instead of passing close by, he hit it.
This was pretty cool. I take it your not a football (soccer) fan. Just to keep with the trend of disputing you.
143 million people watched SBLVII globally while 1.5 billion watched the World Cup final. That's nearly 1/5 of the world population watched a single sporting event. Interesting or not that's pretty impressive. I am a soccer fan though.
