Effective Immediately Forida Shuts Down All Bars and Nightclubs For 30 Days

I have a bad feeling...if the case load continues to rise like the bad trajectory we are on, the restaurants close again...and go back to carry out and delivery model.

Most of the restaurants I have been to have people spread out at every other table with the staff with mask and gloves on. I did go to one Wed that was full and the staff were not wearing masks or gloves which was surprising. None of the restaurants have someone attending the door. Everyone grabs the same door handle. Also when you are sitting at a table people are constantly walking by at a much closer range than they would if they were simply just sitting at the next table. I have noticed multiple employees fiddling with the masks while touching their faces from being so uncomfortable over a long period of time. One hostess at the beach pulled her mask down to talk to us lol. I don't know the surface life of this virus but wonder if that is the most likely culprit of contagion.

I get what you're saying and I would feel bad. But have you been to a grocery store lately? I've been in way closer proximity to way more people standing in line at Walmart or Publix etc. than I ever have in a bar or restaurant. The conversation has went off the rails a bit but my issue is that people can't consume alcohol on the premises, which hurts the businesses revenue. It doesn't say people can't eat in restaurants. It doesn't do anything to restrict the massive amount of people standing in line for one of Walmart's two open registers. I just don't get the reasoning behind eliminated alcohol consumption at a bar/restaurant when it does nothing in the grand scheme of things. Nightclubs are completely understandable since there is generally a large crowd packed in like sardines with a lot more physical interaction but keeping me from having a beer with my burger is pointless.

I get what your saying but the old folks in the grocery store that are vulnerable are not hanging out in bars risking that exposure. They only leave the house for Dr. appts and the grocery store, where they encounter "the I am invincible and selfish crowd". They do not have a choice in this situation.

I don’t see much in the way of real sanitizing going on in restaurants. Door entrances, knobs, handles, chairs, tables, you name it’s just minimal efforts of exercised motions anyway.
Being at the beach over the weekend back to back people getting into go karts, doing all sorts of climbing games, we’re without any cdc safety protocol. Hand sanitizers were abundant but rarely used before, dury, and after. If people aren’t wanting to police themselves and limit their exposure don’t think we’re going to win this battle without problems. Pure ignorance or just by ignoring any virus safety precautions only makes it harder for those who can’t get sick. The way I see it sooner or later you will just have to bite the bullet if your not living in a bubble.

This deserves many more "likes" than I'm allowed.

It really sucks...all of it, for a myriad of reasons. I hate it, but other than respecting the space and safety of those around me, keeping my very susceptible dad safe...there’s not a damn thing I can do.

I know the feeling. My mother's doctor told her flat-out with her pre-existing conditions a Covid infection will almost certainly kill her. And my father's age alone puts him in the high-risk category.

So while a lot of these restrictions are annoying as all hell; I cannot ignore the seriousness of the situation. My family just has too much at stake.

And I cant understand how people ignore the risks. I cannot even imagine what my mental state would be if I found out I spread Covid to someone's mom/dad/grandparent and they died from it. What a burden that would be carry. I'd rather just hang out at home for a few more weeks.

I think a store could easily do an "adult swim" type of opening at the grocery stores. I wonder if anyone has tried this? Allow anyone over a certain age or anyone who with a doctors slip saying they a covid vulnerable entrance at a certain time in the day or some specefic interval. It would be a little bothersome initially but people would get used to coming at specific times if they needed to. If the store is not utilized at the allotted time then go back to business as usual. You could give a senior discounts and would be great marketing move.

I don’t see it happening. We need to get ahold of this but the fact remains cases have been going up for 3 weeks and skyrocketing for about 17 days. And still yet deaths are static with only very modest increase in hospitalizations. There was no increase in cases until bars opened, and lets face it, the protesting didn’t help. I’m not saying it was mostly to blame but hundreds of people in close quarters for hours at a time didn’t help at all.

It’s going to be blamed entirely on 20 somethings going to bars and if my test comes back positive that’s probably who I’d blame, because so many at my employer were doing that and now at least one of them came up with the virus.
But it would be entirely wrong IMO. The riots have every bit as much to do with this on a nation wide basis - along with people not wearing masks.

That may be your opinion, but experts say that's not true at all...

Publix did it early in the lockdown here in Broward.....discontinued as we moved slowly into Phase II.

I hope not....but we both know the knee jerk/pendulum movements...btw, I really hope you’re correct...js

There won't be many left to eat at if they shut them down again....

I think it's only bars, which were not open down in South Florida, restaurants can continue to do business at 1/2 capacity

Bars never opened in Dade and Broward.....bars opened in Palm Beach (May) and Monroe (June 1)....so parts of South Florida opened...just not the most populated two counties....it would be worse today if they had.

We shall see....we have had some restaurants here in Broward.....very well established....that haven't reopened yet....they are waiting for full capacity. The percentage of long term success of any restaurant without a pandemic is awful at best....survival of the fittest I suppose. I’m hoping for the best....this is a nightmare.

Correct, so business as usual (new usual) for now...

Look at Duffy's.....how much longer can they sit idle.....not even doing takeout

They did it at our publix here in FM...my patients who went said it was a mad house/packed...

The wild card in all of this is the asymptomatic person who has the virus unknowingly spreading it to others, including high risk people. Nobody likes wearing masks or limiting social activity. But doing so not only reduces your own risk, but also the risk of those of advanced age or immune-compromised conditions with whom you may cross paths.

Our leaders let off the brakes too soon and many people have ignored the guidelines. Hence, here comes the spike. We have met the enemy and he is us.

This has been shown to not really be transmitted by surfaces and definitely not surfaces outside. This is being transmitted by more than casual contact. Aka people crowding into bars talking loudly. Bars needs to stay closed unles they can provide seating (most can’t). It sucks but there’s just no way for a typical bar to make people social distance.

Sure it’s mainly in closed settings or rooms with the infected spreading the virus, but surfaces or processes can’t be discounted. Still with every virus life level there’s a long list of crossover contamination possibilities. Even outside reports of how the wind at the beach or wherever carries the virus for a distance in the moist humid air. You really can’t fight this crap unless your immune but how you reduce the dose level of contamination not to have a severe case of it.

The virus has been here much longer than we thought. It is more widespread than we thought. Everyone going to the hospitals now are tested, weather they have symptoms or not. Governors and mayors did nothing to stop the 2-3 weeks of rioting. More cases are being reported but the overall hospitalizations and deaths are not rising with more positive tests.

Hahahahahahahahahaha I bet you think those "experts" are unbiased? Hahahahahahahahahaha that's rich man, thanks for the laugh!

did you even read the article? It’s not even opinions, it’s just statements of fact. They’ve been contact tracing outbreaks and they’re linking back to parties, not protests.

either way, tell me the unbiased source I should get info from...

Couple of random thoughts, probably already touched on before.....

1) indoors (bars) is dangerous for spreading, but outdoors (protest) is not. If this is the case, is there any reason to not have a football/baseball,golf season that is 100% outdoors with near maximum fan capacity?

2) if this virus is like nearly every other virus we (or I) know about, we should wash our hands with a nazi like vigor. A sweaty mask (like mine always is) gets touched a lot with my hands. How is this helping prevent the spread, when I touch a doorknob, fruit to buy then place back, etc.? (sorry, I do not totally accept that this isn't spread by touching things)

3) will this serve as a wake up call for people who smoke, are obese, don't do any exercise? Strong people are harder to be killed, by another human, a lion, or a virus. Starting lifting heavy things people.

I'd encourage all of you to read this guy's post, forget his conclusions. Just look at the data only.....

I’m not certain, but it looks like he has reversed Florida and Texas cases.....he codes Florida in blue and we should be listed in orange. I thought it merited mention....

Yeah, the way people respond to facts with their own biased opinions on the matter is why we are where we are now. The two responding to you are the actual biased ones here, as I'm sure you already know from their history. It was worth a shot though.

Regardless of where one falls in the COVID precaution debate, I think it is safe to say we as people have utterly failed this real test of how we collectively behave within a pandemic. Considering this pandemic has already seen plenty of lives lost, I shudder thinking about how screwed we are if a virus more lethal came along.

I actually think this was the perfect storm. This was just deadly enough to kill a lot of people but not so deadly as to really scare people, especially young people. If something came along with like a 10% mortality to young people no one would leave the house for months.

Can you explain what type of biases that would render their expert opinion unreliable?

What’s the angle?

The big government media machine is using this "pandemic" as an opportunity to seize as much power as possible?

Read your sentence.

Is it the government, or is it the media? How are they seizing power exactly? To what end?

Sorry. That’s absolutely absurd.

Have you ever stopped to think that these people are actually trying to help people?

If you think the media is in the business of helping people you haven't been paying attention.
