Extremely disturbing article - money be funneled from the Florida State University to fund famu

Forgot to mention he's friends with Altmyer's family and he isn't coming here after the loss to GaTech
He will tell you how wealthy his family is, how much they give and how he knows stuff others don’t. He guaranteed that Lanning was going to be the DC and like you said Altmeyer isn’t coming Meanwhile he is wrong more than almost everyone on the board.

Right. Also Leon county benefits from games being played in Bragg Stadium.
Bragg Stadium and FAMU are a significant part of Tallahassee and Leon county. Not even up for debate. The purpose of the agency is to improve the community. And with all the money we have enjoyed at the taxpayers expense there should be a little to sprinkle on the south side of Tallahassee.

OP is triggered over nothing, came to the TC for safe space and did not get what he is looking for. Homie somehow seems to think because he claims to be a booster that this has anything at all to do with this. Dude needs to get a grip. Not a dime of FSU booster money will go to the project. Get over it. It is funded by penny sales tax paid for and voted in by residents of Tallahassee. This still leaves 30 million to go to the FSU project.

Has zero to do with FSU boosters nor the School of Engineering.

FAMU football and band bring many tax dollars to the area in visitors, if Bragg is not renovated those dollars will be lost because the place is in bad shape and would be unplayable. Local government gives tons to fund FSU also. Like I said it still leaves 30 million in the pot for the FSU project.

Aren't these all state schools anyway? These are not private colleges, the state still has to fund and run all the state universities in some capacity. Im sure I don't understand it well, but its never money in our pockets, but always money out of our pockets
Facts! FSU and FAMU are state owned institutions of Florida. The OP problem is coming from that "old way of thinking" in America that has this country where it is now. He's clearly not educated on this matter at all and is worrying about something that is irrelevant to his life. We all know why he truly is bothered by FSU helping FAMU on a financial project.

Sorry, I don't see the any reason for the outrage. Nothing disturbing I read. There is a more immediate need and that project is being funded.
Come on now. You know why this guy is outraged by this. Everything that is understood doesn't need to be said if you get where I'm coming from.

We all know why he posted this. Its obvious.

Most of Doak as we know it was publicly funded. And those same local taxes just re-built the Gaines Street corridor.

Not really.

The FSU university center was built with funds appropriated by the Florida legislature to FSU. The Doak stadium improvements were funded by FSU boosters. Academic component from state money designated for academic facilities. Athletic component from private funds.

is taking public money from a local government and giving it to FAMU so that they can improve their football stadium.

Neither FAMU’s athletic program nor the university itself can balance it’s books. Their booster organization is basically nonexistent in terms of providing money to the athletic program. They have been taking money from their general university budget to fund their athletic program because it is running such a huge deficit.

It’s weird.

Beyond weird and who’s getting the short end of the stick, FSU for a “university” that can’t balance its books.

He just wants FSU to be the best place it can I guess.
No he does not. FSU and FAMU are all state owned institutions. This is Warchant and this site covers FSU sports not the engineering program. He came to Warchant to post his hatred and thought this was the "good ole boy" fanbase that hasn't evolved from his mindset and it backfired. We all know why he posted and we know what type of person this is.

The state of Florida owns FSU and FAMU you both. Why do you or the OP care about what business they are conducting with the engineering department? This is Warchant and this site isn't for this. Go to the governor of Florida email complain to him about it. This has nothing to do with FSU football or basketball or baseball.

By "old way of thinking that has this country where it is now," I assume you mean riots, looting, arson, and division, not "the most stable, prosperous, and generous country in the world, with the largest number of immigrants and minorities in the world." (Or maybe you just mean "racist.")

FWIW, I don't have a problem with FAMU getting money. Curious why it came out of the convention center fund, rather than somewhere else. But if the stadium really is falling down and unsafe, and the community doesn't support the program enough to pay for basic safety in the stadium, I guess it's okay to make taxpayers pay for it.

I'm not on this board much. Is the OP a well known "board racist?"

It wasn’t the convention center fund. That project may never happen considering the future of the convention business. And the agency distributing the funds was created for situations like this.

Racist how?
I ask because 1GK keeps calling you a racist. Whatever that means to 1GK.

"2 week ban please for this mods."

That guy is an idiot...ignore.

I want the best for FAMU but FAMU does not seem to want the best from itself -

Former Florida A&M CFO and others file whistleblower complaint against university

The former chief financial officer for Florida A&M University in Tallahassee now is suing the historically Black school, saying she was wrongly pushed out after blowing the whistle on recurring deficits in the athletics department.

The complaint notes the athletic department since 2013 “has consistently overspent revenues that exceeded what it was allocated” and depleted all of the interest earnings from the only sources allowed by the Board of Governors.

Then why are you on An FSU sports board other than to bitch and moan? I don’t believe your giving to boosters or the school is what you have portrayed
Just catching up on this thread but the biggest complainers usually give the least amount of money. One of the biggest complainers on this website (doesn't post as much as a few years ago) was pleased to post that donations were stopping and he/she was going to make FSU hurt for changing the logo. Turns out said person had not donated in like 5 years and biggest contribution was $60 one year.

Oh I know. They talk all big and bad, but don't give squat.
