FSU sports information: Florida State baseball junior second baseman Drew Faurot has been named the ACC Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Recognized with ACC weekly accolades for the first time in his career, Faurot is the third Seminole to be bestowed with the honor in 2025. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise and redshirt junior left-handed starter Joey Volini swept the Player and Pitcher of the Week on March 31 and left-handed starter Jamie Arnold was named the Pitcher of the Week on April 14.
As he helped FSU to a 3-1 record last week, Faurot tied the school record for consecutive at-bats with a hit, with 12. He was 4-for-4 in back-to-back games before a 4-for-5 contest in the series opener at Cal, snapping the streak in his final at-bat. The 12-hit stretch was highlighted by five home runs, three doubles and nine RBI in addition to two walks. Faurot’s streak ended two hits shy of matching the NCAA record of 14.
During the three-game run, Faurot's batting average rose 49 points, from .286 to .335. Throughout the four-game week from May 6-11 that included an ACC road series win, Faurot hit .529 with three home runs, four doubles, nine RBIs and 22 total bases with a 1.294 slugging percentage.
Other career honors for Faurot include the 2024 ACC Championship All-Tournament Team and Freshman All-America and AAC All-Freshman Team distinctions, both in 2023 at UCF.
Faurot and No. 2-ranked Florida State return home for the final regular-season weekend against No. 4 North Carolina from May 15-17 at Dick Howser Stadium. The series begins with two contests on the ACC Network at 7 p.m. ET, on Thursday, May 15, and Friday, May 16. The regular-season finale is on Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. ET.
