POST-PRACTICE UPDATE

Jimbo was pleased with the defense today, but very not pleased with the offense. Said the D-line dominated the offensive line. Said the receivers were awful, dropped too many passes. Said their inconsistency is hurting the QBs and the entire offense. Said it's hard to evaluate the QBs right now because of the WRs' play.

"The receivers stink," he said. "They don't get open. Ain't catching the ball. Can't count on them right now."

That was about as frustrated as he's been at any point this camp. Said the defense "whipped their tails physically." But he then said he's happy about the defense.

The one offensive player he praised was Mario Pender. Said he was surprised how well he ran after coming back from the injury.

He singled out Derrick Nnadi and Nile Lawrence-Stample for playing really well. Said Jacob Pugh, Josh Sweat and DeMarcus Walker are doing some good things. Said Sweat is playing really well and faster now.

When asked about OT Derrick Kelly, said he has been fading the last few days. Needs to pick it back up.

RB Dalvin Cook passed us going to the practice fields when we were leaving. Looked like he had already been running, and then he was going to do some drills on his own. He did have a helmet and jersey, but still not with the team.

Fisher also said Chris Casher and Lorenzo Featherston are doing well with their rehab from knee scopes.

That's about it for now. Video of Jimbo talking is coming. Plus we'll have a preview of tomorrow's scrimmage and more coming later this evening.

EARLY PRACTICE UPDATE

FSU is practicing today in preparation for tomorrow's second scrimmage. They're practicing in shells and shorts today.

Couple of injury notes to start off with:

Freshman OL Abdul Bello was out with a brace on his right knee. Saw him walking though and didn't look too serious.

Freshman OL Cole Minshew was out as well, probably resting his ankle.

CB Marcus Lewis was out with a brace on his right knee. He was walking with crutches, but saw him briefly without crutches too.

WR Nyqwan Murray, who is out with a broken knuckle, had a huge wrap on his left hand. WRs Ja'Vonn Harrison and Auden Tate also were out today. CB Tarvarus McFadden was also out again.

Jalen Ramsey was back as expected.

LB Sh'Mar Kilby-Lane was still in blue non-contact jersey. WR George Campbell was still in blue.

One interesting note on the Field Goal block team is that Rick Leonard and Josh Sweat are the guys coming off the edges.

The offensive line again was (from left) Rod Johnson, Kareem Are, Alec Eberle, Wilson Bell and Derrick Kelly.

Some folks have asked about LB Matthew Thomas. He hasn't been at practices, but he was with the team at the Kickoff Luncheon today.

Only NFL scout I saw today was from the Jets.

Check back around 6:45 for more updates and Jimbo's post-practice comments.
