The Florida State men’s tennis team completed a strong 4-2 victory over No. 16 Clemson on Friday night. The Seminoles remain unbeaten at home in conference play.

Joshua Dous-Karpenschif and Erik Schiessl cranked up the heat early winning three of the first four games before cruising to a 6-3 doubles victory on Court 2. The pairing has won 10 battles on Court 2 this season including back-to-back wins over top-20 opponents and seven wins over ranked schools.

After Clemson secured a double win on Court 3, the attention turned towards Court 1 as Alex Bulte and Youcef Rihane were deadlocked at 5-5 with the doubles point on the line. The No. 6 pairing in the nation soared to the occasion and notched two clutch games to secure the doubles point.

FSU continued the great effort into singles play, leading on all six courts in the first set. Three of the six courts faced a first-set tiebreaker, Rihane came up huge in his game to win his set tiebreaker 8-6 on Court 6 to allow FSU to win four of the first six sets and maintain their advantage.

Corey Craig completed a monster performance with a crushing 6-2, 6-1 straight-sets win on Court 1 to secure the second team point of the match. The All-American won his fifth ACC match of his career and earned his eighth-ranked singles win of the season. Clemson responded with straight sets wins on Courts 2 and 3 to level the match.

Sophomore Erik Schiessl displayed one of his best performances of the season with a commanding 6-1 third set, winning the first five games to stave off the Tigers’ momentum. Schiessl claimed his 10th career singles win in his first season as a Seminole.

Dous-Karpenschif battled back and forth on Court 5, trading dominant frames through the first two sets before facing a 4-4 score in the final set. He responded with a level head and great intensity to win the final two games and clinch the top-20 team victory.

Florida State will finish the weekend with a home match against Georgia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the annual Seminole Heritage match. Live video and stats will be available on Seminoles.com
