Tennis FSU men travel to face Duke, UNC

The Florida State men’s tennis team returns to the Tar Heel state for the final regular season road trip to face No. 13 Duke and North Carolina.

FSU will face Duke at 5 p.m. on Friday before moving to Chapel Hill to meet North Carolina at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

The Seminoles notched two conference wins with 4-2 victories over No. 16 Clemson and Georgia Tech over the weekend. Corey Craig dished out one of his signature performances over Clemson on Court 1, winning 12 of the 15 games to run away with a 6-2, 6-1 win. The No. 14 player in the nation is unbeaten at home in ACC play, winning six of seven completed sets with nine ranked wins to his name.

Jamie Connel powered through Georgia Tech on Court 2, pulling through the first set 6-4 before winning six of the final seven games to punctuate his performance. Connel is 5-1 in conference play including two road singles wins over No. 1 Wake Forest and No. 10 California.

Erik Schiessl and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif played crucial roles in securing both team wins as each player won their singles match on Courts 4 and 5 respectively. Dous-Karpenschif clinched the match-winner over No. 16 Clemson before securing his 10th win of the spring in straight sets over Georgia Tech. Schiessl earned his 10th win of the season over Clemson before clinching the match over Georgia Tech following a three-set comeback.
