FSU softball plays host to GT

The No. 7 Florida State softball team (26-7, 5-1 ACC) will welcome Georgia Tech (17-15, 2-7) to Tallahassee for the first time since 2017 as the two teams will square off on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m.). Friday's game can be seen live on ACC Network Extra and can also be heard on 96.5 FM in Tallahassee, the FSU Gameday App, the Varsity Network App and Seminoles.com. Saturday's game can be seen on ACC Network Extra, and ACC Network will have the coverage for Sunday's series finale.

The Seminoles are coming off a series win at No. 15 Duke last weekend where they took two of the three from the Blue Devils. Kathryn Sandercock was phenomenal in the two wins over the Blue Devils. Sandercock allowed just one earned run in 10 total innings to a team that was averaging 6.53 runs per game coming into the series. In ACC play, Sandercock holds a 4-0 record and has allowed just one earned run through 17 innings.

Noles on the Radio

  • For the first time since 2018, Seminole Softball will be streamed live on the radio in Tallahassee.
  • Fans can listen to Friday’s game against the Yellow Jackets on 96.5 FM in Tallahassee, on Seminoles.com, on the FSU Gameday App and the Varsity Network App.
  • Friday’s game will be the first of three games that the Seminole Sports Network will broadcast as the Apr. 26 game against Florida and the May 5 game against Louisville will be on the radio.
Welcome to the Gauntlet

  • The Seminoles have one of the toughest schedules in the country this season. The Seminoles will play 20 games against teams ranked in the top 25, 19 of those games being away from Tallahassee. 19 out of the Seminoles’ 23 road or neutral site games are against teams in the top 25.
  • The Noles are one of nine teams ranked in the top 25 to play 20 or more games against top 25 ranked opponents.
  • The Noles currently hold a 6-6 record against ranked opponents.
  • At the Clearwater Invitational, the Seminoles played five ranked teams in four days and went 3-2 in those games. The Seminoles defeated No. 4 Arkansas, No. 15 Arizona and No. 22 Louisiana. The Seminoles fell to No. 2 UCLA and No. 12 Alabama.
  • The Seminoles have already played the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, No. 11, No. 13, No. 24 and No. 25 teams in this week’s ESPN.com/USA Softball rankings. The Seminoles still have matchups with No. 5 Clemson, No. 13 Florida and No. 16 Virginia Tech.
  • To start the season, the Seminoles played 18 games in 17 days and went 15-3 in those games.
Seminoles' Dominance in the ACC

  • The Seminoles have dominated the ACC over the past decade.
  • The Seminoles have won an ACC Championship (Regular Season/Tournament) in eight out of the past nine seasons.
  • Under Head Coach Lonni Alameda, the Seminoles are 153-36-1 against the Seminoles’ eight ACC opponents this season.
  • The Seminoles have only lost five ACC series since 2012.
  • The Noles are the only ACC team to win a National Title as the Seminoles brought home the title in 2018.
Sandercock Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

  • Kathryn Sandercock picked up her first ACC Pitcher of the Week award of the season on Mar. 28 following her performance against No. 15 Duke.
  • This was Sandercock’s fifth time in her career that she was named ACC Pitcher of the Week.
  • Sandercock went 2-0 against the Blue Devils and allowed just one earned run.
Flying Around the Bases

  • The Seminoles have always been known for their aggressive base running and this year is no different.
  • The Noles are 71-for-78 on stolen base attempts this season.
  • The Noles’ 71 stolen bases are tied for 17th in the country this season.
  • The Noles stole 28 consecutive bases from Feb. 9 to Feb. 23
  • Devyn Flaherty is a perfect 19-for-19 which leads the ACC and is tied for 19th in the country.
Staying Patient at the Plate

  • The Seminoles have stayed patient at the plate all season.
  • The Seminoles have drawn 146 walks which ranks second in the country.
  • Against Syracuse on Mar. 10, the Seminoles drew a season-high 11 walks. The Noles scored 10 runs on just three hits.
  • At one point in the fourth inning against Syracuse, the Noles drew five consecutive walks to score five runs against the Orange.
