The No. 8 Florida State softball team (30-5) defeated Stetson 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Joanne Graf Field. FSU has won 10 consecutive games and are winners in 19 out of its last 21 games.

Stetson (18-18) got on the board first after a couple of a Seminole errors allowed the Hatters to get a run across. Makenna Reid made her sixth start of the season for the Noles and settled in over the course of the next three innings as she retired nine out of the 11 batters she faced. Reid threw four innings and a season-high 61 pitches on the afternoon.

Isa Torres led off the bottom of the first with a double on the first pitch she saw. Two batters later, Kennedy Harp hit a high home run to left field that just cleared the fence to give the Noles the lead. Harp is now up to eight home runs and 43 RBI this season. Her 43 RBI is the second-most in the ACC.

Jahni Kerr started the second inning with her second triple of the year. Ashtyn Danley followed with a line drive in right field for a double to score Kerr. Danley advanced to third on an error, and Angelee Bueno hit a high double that got lost in the sun to score Danley to put the Noles up 4-1.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Danley led off the inning with a single. Addie DeLong replaced her on the base paths and moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt from Annie Potter. An error by the Hatters allowed DeLong to score from second to extend the lead to 5-1.

Julia Apsel and Jazzy Francik combined to retire the final nine batters of the game. Apsel pitched two innings with one strikeout while Francik recorded two strikeouts in her one inning of work. In total, the Seminole pitchers allowed just one hit while striking out six. Reid was credited with the win to improve to 3-1 this season and 28-2 in her career with the Garnet and Gold.

Danley led the way offensively with a 2-for-2 showing. Kerr extended her hitting streak to nine games while Isa Torres extended her hitting streak to five games.

FSU will continue its homestand with the series opener against NC State on Friday at 6 p.m. on ACCNX.

Did anyone get a straight story on what happened with the batting order and the automatic out we were given. We were batting in the order posted so I'm not sure what gives.

Sounds like FSU's coaches had a batter at the plate out of order. Alameda acknowledged they were at fault
