The No. 8 Florida State (32-5, 8-0) softball walked off NC State Wolfpack (21-14, 4-7) in a 5-4 win in eight innings on Saturday afternoon to take the series and stay undefeated in ACC play. FSU has now won 12 consecutive games and 21 out of its last 23 games.

NC State struck first in the top of the first as a hit-by-pitch and a misplay in the outfield allowed the Wolfpack to take a 1-0 lead.

The Seminoles came out hot in the bottom half of the inning with Isa Torres laying down a bunt single on the first pitch, followed by a double from Jaysoni Beachum to left field to bring Torres home to tie the game. Jahni Kerr reached on a fielder's choice, and Michaela Edenfield followed with a single to left field putting two runners on base for Katie Dack. Dack hit a slow roller past the pitcher that sneaked all the way to shallow right field to allow Kerr to score to give the Noles the lead.

Makenna Reid retired the side in order in the top of the second, and Ashtyn Danley came on to relieve Reid in the third and picked up a couple strikeouts to keep the Wolfpack in check.

Kerr led off the bottom of the third with a bunt single to extend her hitting streak to 11 games. Edenfield reached on a fielder's choice, and Dack continued her hot streak with her fourth home run in seven games to extend the lead to 4-1.

The Wolfpack threatened in the fourth with a leadoff single, but Edenfield made a great throw on the steal attempt to end the threat.

After a scoreless fifth inning, the Wolfpack rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at four.

NC State got the leadoff runner on in the top of the seventh, but Jazzy Francik forced a 5-4-3 double play ended the inning to give the Noles some momentum.

Julia Apsel stepped in to pitch in the top of the eighth, and after the leadoff batter was walked, Apsel settled in to record three consecutive outs to end the inning.

Kennedy Harp led off the bottom of the inning with a walk then Krystina Hartley was hit by a pitch to immediately put two runners on for the Noles with no outs. A fielder's choice put runners on the corners with one out. Annabelle Widra was walked to load the bases for Torres who delivered with a single for the left fielder's head to give FSU the win. Saturday was the second time Torres has walked off the Wolfpack as she hit the walk-off home run last year against the Wolfpack on Mar. 28, 2023.

Apsel recorded the win to improve to 11-0 this season.

The Seminoles will look for another series sweep Sunday at noon on ACCNX.
