My home office is in the front of my house, which faces East. it is the furthest room from my airconditioning units. I just don't get much air out of the vents and it gets blasted by the sun from 0700 - 1400. It never cools off.

I had an air conditioning repair man come out to take a look to see if the vent was obstructed somewhere along the way or there was something wrong, he said that everything is fine, but it's just a function of being at the end of the line and a sun lit room.

He said they could add another duct, but it probably wouldn't help much and it would be $5k, or I could get a wall unit just for this room, but those start at $3k.

Instead I built this today.

Works perfect. Cool as a cucumber. Cooler $15.98, fan $9.98, 3' Elbow 3.98. (I didn't mess with the solar power, I'm not going to use it for camping.

That is awesome. Truly shows that necessity is the mother of invention.

When do you start on your handmade La-Z-Boy?

Nice, think I will make one for my daughter's softball team. It gets damned hot in the dugouts during fall ball when the temps are 100+.

You must've caught a case of the poors. A true LR denizen would make one from a Yeti cooler so his servant would only need to replace the ice once a week.

Just to confirm, that's not my room, just learned the art of low budget ac from that video. I just figured out it's dual purpose, you can store drinks right in the cooler just an arms reach from the desk. Bonus.

I predict that Free will get hammered & cut his fingers off reaching for another beer.

That's awesome!

thought about making one for my office...but the ice thing was an issue for me.

I'll admit I would have been lazy and just bought a ductless portable AC unit for the room for a couple hundred, but I can appreciate any DIY project. In the alternate universe where it's not illegal to do so, I (entirely in my head) built my own Mame portable console and when this fictional other self moves he will build a full sized, four person Mame cabinet with a nice LED display and boze speakers.
