My wife and I watch a limited amount of TV - usually just one show at a time, maybe 45 minutes a night or so. We just finished Luther (BBC). Recent show we've watched include Happy Valley (BBC), The Americans, Peaky Blinders, and Better Call Saul. Any recommendations for really good quality streaming dramas? We're also happy to watch something that finished its run awhile ago, in other words, does not have to be on right now. I've heard Friday Night Lights is good and that's one possibility.

What do you have?

I'm not sure I'm much help, since I don't watch a ton of TV. I recently started watching The Man In The High Castle. I'm only four episodes in, and I like it a lot so far. It's an Amazon Prime show.

BLACK SAILS.........the first few episodes are kind of slow, but give it time, it gets REALLY good.......it's the ONLY show I've seen that got better every season

Your tastes seem similar to mine. I highly recommend Sneaky Pete on Amazon Prime. I'd say it's in the neighborhood of a Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul. Not as intense as Breaking Bad, but not quite as poetic and maudlin as Better Call Saul. Good performances, solid story, good drama leavened with some lighter moments. It's a cut below those two shows, but not nearly as much as you might expect. Bryan Cranston is involved, and that might have something to do with it. It might be the most underrated show on TV...it's very, very good.

Hmmm . . . Sneaky Pete sounds interesting. I'm a big fan of Giovani Ribisi. Poetic is a great word for Better Call Saul. I'll have to look into Black Sails, I'm not familiar with it. I have seen The Man in the High Castle and enjoyed it. It can be a bit slow at times but it's engaging. I'd love to hear other recommendations.

Black Sails, Man in High Castle, Narcos, Gomorrah.

Since you're heavy into Limey to based on that list, I'd highly rec the show Taboo. It's bloody, full of deviant sex and intrigue and VERY well done. Great set and costume design, amazing acting and decent action. It's the closest show on tv to GOT or the older Tudors (which I also highly rec).

Rectify is a severely underrated show and well worth a watch.

Game of Thrones is a must. So is Breaking Bad, but youve probably already seen them.

Watching Turn, Longmire, and Banshee right now. Turn started off solid, but it feels like the same thing every week at this point. Not really feeling the other 2 and have only watched 2 or 3 so far, not sure im going to finish them.

These are all worth watching.

Homeland
Dexter
House of Cards
Stranger Things
The Killing
The Fall
Big Little Lies
True Detective (S1)
Narcos

WAtched the first season and was enjoying it, but I guess it got a little over the top for me when the 'team' showed up and kind of went downhill from that.

My useless contribution to this thread is that started watching season 1 of Rick and Morty and I have been amused.

I like Rectify, but still haven't made it through. It's really damn slow, but on purpose obviously. Almost every time I sit down to watch some TV, I decide on something else with "more there."

However, when I DO watch Rectify, it's not unusual for me to binge three episodes in a row late into the night...it's quite hypnotic.

Probably time to power through.

What network can you find this show on

Not to spoil anything but nothing ever really happens in recify. It's almost like a documentary in that sense and kid of just ends.

Ozark, just one season 10 episodes. Not 1 dull minute

I just started watching Ozark because of recommendations here. I like it. Always liked Bateman, this is pretty different than his previous work. Struggling to decide if I should feel bad for him or just let him try to redeem himself. I mean, he isn't a thief, only a launderer. :)

My wife and I love Longmire. I've read all the books and seen most of the episodes more than once.

I watched a couple episodes, not bad. Love the scenery. My buddy lives in small town Wyo, the show drives him crazy. I think its more the issue of more people died in season one than they have had in 2 decades in real life. :)

Pretty much. Population 7,700, close to but not in the mtns. He tells me, "After a couple of months of driving and being stuck behind all the slow drivers, you will give up and 20 minutes gets you anywhere you want." Ah, nope.

What's funny is Longmire is not even filmed in Wyoming but in New Mexico. Absaroka County, WY is supposed to be the least populated county in the least populated state, but they must have the highest murder per capita in the world.

If you're a fan of across the pond dramas, I stumbled across a very well done "series" on Netflix - Jack Taylor, starring Iain Glen. Each "episode" is actually a movie of about 1.5 hours. Most of it takes place in Galway, Ireland. It's worth a look.

The wife and I are working our way through Shameless right now.

I'm almost done with the first season. It's really good but I don't know if can keep my interest for 8 seasons. Time will tell.

I'm also caught up on Homeland. Really good show.

My husband and I really enjoyed The Fall. Starred Gillian Anderson (from X-FIles) and Jamie Dornan (50 Shades of Grey). Well-acted and VERY creepy...

Bosch on amazon is entertaining. (Ex army SF turned lapd homicide det).

My wife and I both said that Justified is a series we would watch again from start to finish. Great show.

I've got to try that again some day. I watched a couple episodes and it just didn't "take", but everyone loves it.

Justified becomes a bit formulated, but has some great characters.

FX has solid shows.
