I'm done with the Jaguars

Straight nole here in Jax.......my gator grad friends say he takes a bunch of plays off.

The kid is a straight stud! He has talent, he was literally what we missed out on flipping late to UF.

Incredible talent I will some how welcome Fowler?

My contacts at uf have told me that Dainty was one of the biggest cancers on the team and was a big reason for the lockerroom meltdowns in 2013. Kid is me-first person, as we all knew, and his teammates at Jax aren't gonna fly with that.

Some of y'all sound like UF fans over the Winston pick.

Stick with your damn team.

This. What are you going to do if they pick Rashad Greene? Be a fan again. I was born and raised in Jax and never liked the jags because most of their fans were Gates.

Stuck with the 9ers and continue to stick with them even though it looks like they may be on a downhill spiral. And Frank Gore I pulled for even though I hated him when he was at scUM.

You jag fans don't trust Gus and Caldwell? Gus is a defensive guy. I would trust his judgment over anyone here. He was Derrick Brooks coach in Tampa for a little bit.

But since I hate Dainty and don't like the Jags, I hope he sucks.

wish the falcons couldve picked him. I think beasley is a bit overrated.

Good point, especially with the short history of the Jags. I've been a Dolphin fan since I was four and just assumed switching teams wasn't allowed.
It really isn't allowed but I will be seeing alot more Bucs fans here in Tally now that previously had zero interest in them. I get starting to follow an NFL team because of a college connection but switching teams is against the "rules" IMHO.

Agreed, I know that this is a Jag thread but I'm a Steeler fan and didn't switch teams because Pouncey was selected.

Yep. I don't like them when they're at UF, but when the Jags take them, I throw that crap away.

Hell, Fred Taylor was a Gator and he's my all time favorite Jaguar.

I don't get the love for Dainty by some of the posters around here. Guess it's just more gator envy.

FLower is a late 1st round pick at best. For a supposed pass-rush specialist, his stats are abysmal. Only 14 sacks in 3 years and nearly half of them against non P5 competition.
Nonsense

You passed on Amari Cooper and Leonard Williams for Dante Fowler. Another damn gator for a gator infested town.

Make room...I'm back to my childhood team The Tampa Bay Buccaneers!
Your crazy if you wanted Cooper over Fowler, DE is a premium position must get pressure on the QB, WR are a dime a dozen and the deepest position in this draft. Didn't you watch FSU games defense stunk because the QB could wait forever to throw.

I've been apathetic about the Jags for a number of years now. It has gotten to the point that I don't even bother to watch on TV. I am not a big NFL fan to begin with so I figured why bother watching a terrible product. It isn't like I'm watching the Noles.

Good selection for them... He'll fit right in with the last two first round choices from over there.

Just gives me more Sunday afternoon nap time.

What is nonsense about it? It is true that his stats are average and that half of his sack production came against nonP5 competition. When you draft a DE/OLB at #3 he better be an elite pass rusher. Dainty is not an elite pass rusher. He's a good, versatile DE that can be disruptive at times but he has a questionable motor and me-first attitude and he rarely ever seems to get home.

Shane Ray had more sacks in 1 year than Dainty had in 3 and he went #23. Dainty being a top 10 pick is nothing but pure hype. He will likely be a bust in Jax, both because of his terrible attitude and his play on the field.

Leonard Williams is by FAR a better player and will prove it.

Williams is 30-40 lbs heavier than Dante. 2 totally different players with 2 totally different rolls. No comparison. Fowler is a good pickup for what they want him and need him to do.

Now I personally wanted to see them draft Cooer. Cooper and Thomas would give Bortles 2 immediate impact targets and improve the offense, which was the weak link last year. The OL will be more experienced and should be improved as they were very young last year. The D wasn't that bad, but the horrible offense meant more snaps on D. Hopefully they can pick up a decent RB and WR next.

Two completely different players for sure, but the Jags should have gone with the best player available on defense and that is Williams. Time will tell and I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure Williams will be a long time pro bowl player. I don't feel that way about Fowler.

The Jags signed Jared Odrick so drafting Leonard Williams was always a long shot. Leo, WR, RB, and FS where the biggest positions of need coming in to the draft and Leo was the biggest need. I don't love the pick but I understand it

WR's are deep in draft. Don't need to waste a 1st rd pick to get a quality WR.

Cooper is an all pro for the next 10 years. Yes, he's that good. Williams is a beast, and also an all pro type player. We literally just caved into drafting a Gator, because if it doesn't work out, the Jag/Gator fans won't be overly upset, because they'll forgive him because he's a Gator. When you panic, draft a Gator. Other than Fred Taylor, Bobby McCray for a year, Mike Peterson(wasn't drafted in Jax) and Reggie Nelson for his rookie year...most Gators to have come through Jacksonville have sucked. Fowler is a tweener. If you draft someone in the top 3, you better be getting a guy who either is all pro, or just misses the pro bowl. Top 5 is big time.

Chris Clemons is 6'3" 254 and he plays the same position for Gus Bradley both in Seattle and in Jax that Fowler will bill playng at 6'3" 261. Wouldn't call him a tweener. He's a good fit scheme wise.

Really? "A scheme guy"we could've gotten in the 2nd round. Top 3? This guy has no production.

You're on something if you think this guy would be available in the 2nd round. Leo was the biggest need and he fits. Like I said I don't love the pick but I understand it.

Jags just took a Jag. Greg Jones announced the pick. So with that, a Nole was involved in 3 of the last 4 picks.

One guy protecting a Nole (Winston), a Nole picked (MEJ) and a Nole doing the picking (Greg Jones).

Count me in as someone that just doesn't get Folwer as a top 3 pick.

No the good pick would've been Leonard Williams who can play both inside and outside. Sendrick Marks will be out a few weeks and you can't put fowler inside. Williams could've provided depth there as well as the edge.
That's funny bc the jets got Williams and were disappointed bc they wanted fowler. I hated fowler but taking off my Nole glasses I'm pleased with the pick...yeldon too

Jags lost my respect permanently last time they drafted a gator DE in the first. I think it was 07 or 08 when they have up all their picks to move up for a gator bust

I'm not saying we could've gotten Fowler. I'm saying a player(LEO) like him. There is a difference. Fowler was a reach at #3. There is a reas on why people are frustrated with the Jaguars, and it's because of stuff like this. Then, apart from the GM...the head coach pats millionaires on the back who just missed a sure tackle, and says "oh, golly gee, you'll get em next time!"

Derrick Harvey redux. Out of the league within 5 years.
