I like winter and we've had one this year. Tuesday night into Wednesday morning we had rain to sleet to ice pellets to snow. Thursday morning the low was in the teens again. Now today we're forecasted to be in the 70's.

You've had it worse than here but even so we're burning through our firewood now into the fresher stuff from Hurricane Irma.

We're about 10 degrees warmer here than what you've been getting but I love it...

How does this cold affect everyone's heating systems down there? I know you guys have heat, but its not like us in the North with furnaces and boilers, etc, right? Smaller?

We have a heat pump which is effective until it gets in the 20's. Then, the heat strips kick in on occasion. there are a lot of fireplaces burning on cold nights. Some folks do have furnaces but I'm sure they're not like those in NJ.

I've learned that Colorado weather is a lot like Florida weather. 2 days ago it was 70 degrees. Today is a snow day with 30 mph wind gusts haha.

Sounds like North Texas weather. Single digit temps one day, sweater weather the next.

I'll toss in this little tale of how lazy a teenage boy can be. Due to the layout of our house, a lot of shade, and cheap quality windows, it gets very cold in the bedroom occupied by my 14 year-old. And I mean very cold; the night it was in the low 20s, I'd guess it was in the 50s in that room.

I keep a small space heater around to heat that room on such cold days. I went in to get him up for school, and he's sleeping in his coat, without the heater running. The coat was by his bed, the heater on the "other side of the room" (the room is 10x11, so it was about 3 steps from him) - so he just grabbed the coat & put it on instead of getting up to turn on the dang heater.

His mom was mad at him. I told her I'm sure that 40 years ago I'd have done exactly the same thing.

My sister is stationed in Colorado Springs and was telling me the same thing.

Fireplace? I am guessing you don’t have a wood stove in Tally.
Nice work on the rotation. Burn oldest first they say...
