Dustin Hoffman is the latest villain, Kevin Spacey is now claiming Hoffman picked him up off the floor like a lap dog and had his way with him. Seriously though, is this some form of strange hysteria that is spreading? Why do all these accusers come out in bunches? Anyone on here ever get accused of abuse or harassment? I actually have been accused of improper conduct twice. Once, at my friend's house, his girlfriend accused me of standing in the doorway of her bedroom staring at her in her bed. The other was woman who accused me of improper touching. I am a docent at a Civil War site and touched her shoulder because she was going in the wrong direction. Public enemy number one!

I think, thankfully, that victims of abuse/harassment are feeling the power in numbers that for decades/centuries their perps have felt in order to get away with such cavalier behavior.

Every scumbag out there ought to feel nervous. I'm looking forward to watching the shoe start to drop for the non-famous scumbags, like the random managers at Publix or PWC who've abused their power with impunity.

So was the staring from the bedroom doorway accusation valid?

I think we need better definitions. I don't think "sexual harassment" when talking about Spacey grabbing a guy's junk at a bar.

Have you dealt with this personally? You seem overly passionate about all this?

Witnessed it more than a few times. I have some personal regret for not standing up for the women who were being harassed / touched. It was mainly in my first year or two out of college in consulting and felt as though doing the right thing would jeopardize my career (as did the women being harassed) so it went unreported, unfortunately.

In the same situation today, I'd react much differently.

I maintain that there's a responsibility on witnesses, and other men, to stand up for the victims or at least expose the poor behavior of our colleagues. I failed that responsibility a decade ago, still bothers me today.

What exactly did you witness and fail to report?

Generally gross old senior managers and partners (mostly married dudes) propositioning junior level females to come back to their room or making awkward comments about form fitting clothing or cleavage. Throw in some occasional ass grabbing as well.
100% of the time the women said no, had to fend off the guy while being polite and professional so as to not offend their aggressor who has say in their reviews, comp, and next project.

Consulting is basically a drunken fiasco once you leave the client site, esp if it's an out of town client and we're all in a hotel / can expense our booze.

One day those guys will get their public shaming as well, I hope.

Are they hiring? Asking for a friend of course ;)
Lol aside from the unpleasantness of a those few instances and dealing w/ a lot of good ol boy douchebaggery, it was a damn good time.

The big 4 are always hiring.

Wait....wut?

Also, isn't it common knowledge that when in Tallahassee filming Recount in 2007, that Spacey hooked up with a certain WR?

That explains PWC. What is the story with Publix?

Many years ago after a year in college my wife went to work in a law firm until the day when a partner told her she needed to wear shorter dresses. That was the spark she needed to get the hell out of that sleazy firm and get back into school to finish up her degree.

What would you do if you could go back in time?
I guess some combo of in the moment telling them "hey, this isn't the best look for you" and reporting it to HR... then let the chips with my career fall where they may. easy to say now that i know being on the partner track wasn't for me, something i didn't know at the time.

meh just chose some random business. i actually love publix, should have said winn dixie

Right, so why does media (and the alleged victims) keep lumping them all together?
I don't know. But you're able to understand the differences so what's the big deal. Focus on the real issue (the harassment and assaults) rather than the semantics.

Ok, but to me the big difference is that one is civil and the other is criminal. Some conduct you go to HR, some you go to the police. I think it's important for people to handle it the right way.

Agreed, for the most part I think people, esp the victims, understand the distinction.

The more important thing is that victims of either circumstance are feeling increasingly comfortable actually going to the appropriate party for their respective situations rather than staying quiet and stewing with the internal turmoil.

The thing that concerns is there is a difference between an accusation and actual guilt. Some of these are 30 years old, and well, who really knows what happens.

I've never seen or been privy to or part of harassment that I can remember. Male on female. Now a guy I knew got booted from the Navy for M on M sexual assault.

Should have been using fossil fuels to shine the light of righteousness and prevent these issues. /s

Makes you wonder if the reason most child stars end up so screwed up is not the bright lights and exposure to fame and fortune, but rather that they were molested somewhere along the way.

I wasn't in the navy myself, but I heard you don't want to called before the captain's mast.

He's been great at playing creepy parts forever. Is it THAT much of a stretch to think he may be a perv/pedo?

I find this whole thing really interesting; but not all that surprising. Hollywood has long had this type of reputation; of course the media and it appears now that no one else really wanted to say anything. They seem to have had no problem lecturing us "common folk" on how we should live our lives whether it be sex, drugs, environment, politics etc. going out on the national stage and giving us their opinion seems like part of their job description. We are told constantly how we should think and act; or course when it was time for them to speak up and in some cases even when many of them were household names and big stars they gave the excuse of "but my career" I find that so cowardly it is indefensible. I feel sorry for the victims and hope justice is done; but as more and more info now comes out on what appears to be very well known by those in the Hollywood crowd I find those who knew and yet said or did nothing pathetic. Maybe the next time some Hollywood nit wit runs their pie whole about how we should live our lives they should first look in the mirror and make sure they are actually doing some of the things they think the rest of us should be doing.

Just a little levity there coming on the heels of the back to back Spacey and Hoffman accusers, thought I would sarcastically tie the two together. As far as the hookup in Tally goes, I had heard it was actually a running back, Marion Butts...

My wife was offered cash from her boss for sex. He offered several other girls in the office as well. He was of course old and married too.

And it wasn’t a one time thing, but he wanted to date her for a 1k a week for an indefinite amount a time.

I did the math and his deal doesn’t pay as well as mine. She has a hefty allowance with me, plus all her bills paid. I do require more maintenance than he would, but still a better deal at the end of the day :)
