Latest Celebrity on the Defense

I find this whole thing really interesting; but not all that surprising. Hollywood has long had this type of reputation; of course the media and it appears now that no one else really wanted to say anything. They seem to have had no problem lecturing us "common folk" on how we should live our lives whether it be sex, drugs, environment, politics etc. going out on the national stage and giving us their opinion seems like part of their job description. We are told constantly how we should think and act; or course when it was time for them to speak up and in some cases even when many of them were household names and big stars they gave the excuse of "but my career" I find that so cowardly it is indefensible. I feel sorry for the victims and hope justice is done; but as more and more info now comes out on what appears to be very well known by those in the Hollywood crowd I find those who knew and yet said or did nothing pathetic. Maybe the next time some Hollywood nit wit runs their pie whole about how we should live our lives they should first look in the mirror and make sure they are actually doing some of the things they think the rest of us should be doing.
This isn't limited to hollywood, it's the case for politics, religion, etc... It's not unusual for folks with power to abuse it or use it to manipulate others. Those preaching the loudest often have the most to hide -- as evidenced by a slew of televangelists and recently disgraced tv commentators.

My wife was offered cash from her boss for sex. He offered several other girls in the office as well. He was of course old and married too.

And it wasn’t a one time thing, but he wanted to date her for a 1k a week for an indefinite amount a time.

I did the math and his deal doesn’t pay as well as mine. She has a hefty allowance with me, plus all her bills paid. I do require more maintenance than he would, but still a better deal at the end of the day :)
Was bossman offering straight cash? And was your calculation pre or post tax?

Ya...Good question; could have just been a bump in pay that would inevitably been taxed.

This guy was the founder and President of company, there was no one above him to complain too. It was 30 person title loan company in Pittsburgh.

Her sister worked there as well, wh got the same offer.

Wonder if this guy ever had anyone say yes.

And for what it’s worth, he never harassed or acted a inappropriate outside of the offer, it was a straight up business proposition.

I guess wow. I mean if it is a straight up offer to be an escort and there is no harassment or once a no is received, he lets it go, I suppose it isn't as bad as a continued harassment. Even being a straight up business proposition, it would still be awkward to work there and wonder who else took him up on the offer. Pretty ballsy move.

How do you even propose such an arrangement to a coworker?

Wow, what an Indecent Proposal!

I've heard stories about doctors behaving badly including in the OR during a procedure.

Jerry: "I don't think so. I think they were getting dressed and not only that; my shirt was out!!!"

Elaine: "your shirt was out?"

Jerry: "I think so."

Elaine: "Well, what kind of shirt was it.?"

Jerry: "You know! Like a tennis shirt."

Elaine: "Oh! Well ... You don't tuck those in?"

Jerry: "Sometimes I tuck'em sometimes I don't"

Elaine: "Well. Were you tucked?"

Jerry: "I think I was tucked.!"

Elaine: "All right then say you were. I mean .. what do you think could have happened.?"

Jerry: "I don't know but I was spitting out and rinsing like there was no tomorrow."

Elaine: "Ughhhh"

Jerry: "Is this guy a dentist or Caligula?"

He was just trying to emulate Ted Turner as that’s basically exactly what he does (but with more money). I was taking a screenwriting class basically for fun at FSU when Ted Turner basically paid the wife of my professor straight cash for her to leave the professor and become his “girlfriend” for a couple of years.

That's the first thing I asked....well, second thing. I first asked if it was worth the extra cash and if he was a good lay....I about got slapped. I then asked how it all went down.

She said he didn't say "sex". But that he asked her if she would like to go out to dinners and do stuff together during the week, to basically be his girlfriend. And then he said that he would be willing to pay her a 1000k a week if she were willing. Still ballsy. And as mentioned, he then gives the same proposition to her sister a week later.

Needless to say she and her sister quit shortly thereafter.

I didn't know about the incident until I saw her sister post as a "me too" thing on Facebook. Being the loving guy I am, I told her not to post her experience online. She said, trust me, I have no urge too.

It's sad, because the reason we don't want it public is because we know people will judge her and begin to think, "why would he think it's okay to ask you that", "why didn't you slap him and quit immediately",etc etc.

Even in this thread, and I know we joke like this all the time...but if my wife read that someone asked me to post pictures of her after telling the story, she'd say, "thats EXACTLY why I don't tell people this kind of stuff".

is what it is.

and I would ask for the pics too....we are all guilty...even you Bacardi. ;)

All she had to do was agree to be his wife and sex wouldn't have been required!

Don't disagree and never said that in my post. Currently all the cockroaches seem to be flying out from Hollywood; which to me is worse than some mid level manager at company X trying the same thing. Manager X has far less ability to rig the system than those being mentioned right now. To me this is no different than some mega preacher hiring a hooker or the catholic church and their issues. It wasn't that long ago that you had a sitting president have sex with an intern, who knows who else and we were told it is just consenting adults. This is where my issue is with all this one group does it and many find excuses or look the other way; another group does it and it is an indictment of the entire group. I can't imagine any educated person thinks this is limited to just Hollywood, the difference is Hollywood like other organizations has been constantly trying to tell us how we ought to be. While at the same time living a very different standard.

For the record I am very aware of all the laws and get semi-annual briefings on this stuff; often I am the person who has to insure an entire unit has received what is called SHARP training. The rules I must follow are very strict; to the point I can't have a female in my office alone; even I the door is open. Many of the rules are to protect me and the female; since in the military even the accusation will end your career. Which is really sad because while there are plenty of issues in the military with this stuff; females know that with a single complaint they can end your career and have used this multiple times to cover their own issues and failures.

These days, it's best to never let yourself be put in a situation where there can even be the possibility of the appearance of impropriety.

Military Sexual Trauma (MST) was the second most common problem that I saw while working at the VA. It is such a huge issue.

I bet you did. You're like the lottery ticket on these issues.

I was VA, not DoD, so I don't know the active duty stats. Among Veterans accessing VA healthcare, 25% of women report MST (~500K), and 1% of men report MST (~200K).

There is a name I haven't seen in years. What brings you back?
