Live Updates: FSU softball vs. Louisville (Game 1)

Wacaser skies one to deep left. It's plenty deep enough to bring Belviy in to score from third, but the pinch-runner at second, Madi Frey, is tagged out trying to advance to second.

FSU gets an insurance run to make it 4-2, B5, but now has no runners on base with two outs.

Devyn Flaherty hit by a pitch on her side to give FSU a two-out baserunner.

Hard-hit ball up the middle is snagged by Louisville's pitcher and thrown to first for the third out.

FSU leads 4-2 as we head to the sixth inning.

After a long leadoff at-bat, Louisville leads off the top of the sixth with a grounder to short which resulted in a close play at first. Runner was called out, but it's being reviewed. Looked like she may have legged out an infield single.

Upon review, the call is overturned. Runner at first is safe on a leadoff infield single. Now Louisville brings the tying run to the plate.

A liner into right-center bounces off Hallie Wacaser's glove. Then the relay throw to third to try and retire the lead runner is off target.

Runner comes around to score from first on the error and Louisville has the tying run on second with no outs in the top of the sixth.

That's it for Kathryn Sandercock's start. FSU going to Makenna Reid out of the bullpen to try and keep the lead intact. She did well in recording her fifth save of the season Wednesday night at UF.

Reid gets the first batter she faces to fly out to right. Then she induces a groundout to short which was the second out, but also moved the tying run up to third base.

On the ninth pitch of the ensuing at-bat, Reid gets a flyout to right to strand the tying runner on third. Makenna Reid may be a freshman but she keeps thriving in those adverse moments.

FSU threatening again here in the bottom of the sixth. Muffley and Mudge started the inning with consecutive infield singles to put two runners on with no outs.

Kerr flies out to left field for the first out of the frame.

Kalei Harding laces one to right field but it hangs up long enough to get caught.

Two down now with two runners on.

Michaela Edenfield comes through for FSU. She loops one into left-center that bounces off the centerfielder's glove and away from both outfielders in the vicinity.

Both runners come in to score and FSU's lead is up to 6-3. It's a double for Edenfield and gives her three RBI on the night.

Mack Leonard pops out in the infield to retire FSU in the sixth. However, FSU plates two pretty big insurance runs on Edenfield's two-out double.

6-3 FSU as we head to the seventh.

Make that back-to-back walks issued by Makenna Reid to start the top of the seventh. All of a sudden, Louisville has the tying run at the plate with no outs.

Nice bounceback there by Reid to get a strikeout for out #1.

Weak popout to Harding at third is the second out of the inning. FSU one out away.

Reid issues a full-count walk to load the bases with two outs.

Infield single brings in a run. It was hit hard and bounced off Reid's glove and to no one in the infield.

FSU lead cut to 6-4 and the bases are still loaded with two outs.

FSU going back to Kat Sandercock in need of one more out. Tough moment to throw her into with the tying run on second and go-ahead run on first, but she has definitely been here before.

Sorry, I got caught up in a bunch of other things. Sandercock struck out the first batter she faced. FSU wins 6-4 and secures its first ACC regular-season championship since 2019.
