TPD release

On May 07, 2016 at approximately 9:50 a.m. Patrol Officers with the Tallahassee Police Department were called to the 1600 block of Sharkey St after the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received a “911” call of a male hitting a female and dragging her by the hair. When the first officer arrived on scene, loud voices could be heard coming from a residence and a female could be heard crying and a male yelling at her. Upon entering the home, a male was seen straddling a female with his hands around her neck. The male complied and got off of the victim when ordered to do so by the Officer.

The subsequent on scene investigation revealed that Delmarick K. Pender, and the victim were originally arguing in the front yard. Pender grabbed the victim by the hair pulling her approximately fifty (50) feet back into the home. Once inside, the argument continued and Pender was seen by the Officer on top of the victim with his hands around her neck. Pender was arrested for Domestic battery by strangulation and resisting arrest without violence.

Other Notes in the Report.

This is Pender's girlfriend. She is scared of what will happen to Mario. She says their 10-year relationship is in the process of ending.

She had visible injuries to face, neck, scratch on left temple, bruising on right eye, scratch to chest.

Pender didn't go into the TPD car until a supervisor and coach Jimbo Fisher responded. The TPD supervisor encouraged Pender to get into the vehicle and he complied.

A court date is not immediately known but could be set on Monday.
