Florida State will be guaranteed a $4.25 million payout for its Sept. 5, 2020 season opener against West Virginia, according to documents the school released Thursday.
The game is the latest installation of the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game series held in Atlanta. The series began in 2008 with its most recent edition featuring Georgia and North Carolina at the Georgia Dome. FSU will open next season in the game against Alabama at the new Mercedes Benz Stadium.
FSU will receive an allotment of 30,000 tickets worth more than $4.5 million. The lowest non-student ticket price is $120 with the highest being $250 per seat. Peach Bowl Inc., the non-profit organization in charge of administrating the series, stated both schools should start selling tickets "no later than March 1, 2020, and conclude sales by no later than June 14, 2020."
It appears the game will be televised on ABC/ESPN. The document states, "ESPN shall have exclusive first right to telecast or distribute the Game on a live basis on ESPN/ABC network. PBI acknowledges it does not have the right to sell the TV rights for the game but will serve as a primary point of contact for the TV Network selected for the game."
PBI will also negotiate with ESPN or another national entity to provide a radio broadcast.
An actual kickoff time for the game has yet to be determined. FSU, which will receive 100 hotel rooms at a location yet to be chose, will be the home team and wear garnet. WVU will wear yellow. The document also stats there will be officials from a neutral conference.
