6 coaches have won national titles since 2010. Two were "home runs" when they were hired, both already having national titles. One was a position coach, then interim head coach who became non-interim. One was an internal promotion that was set up years prior. Two were WTF-pissed-off-the-fanbase hires.

5 of the 11 titles since 2010 were won with ho-hum or "dear God no" hires. The common factor in those title seasons were having Heisman winning or generational QBs. Throwing money at big names who don't already have titles is a complete crapshoot. Shoot, A&M did hire a title winning coach and 4 years later he has no division, conference or national titles there. It's just as important to hire the right fit regardless of the splash he makes, and get an elite QB or two.
