ND..more devastating loss..vs. FSU in football or Kentucky basketball?

Re: ND..more devastating loss..vs. FSU in football or Kentucky basket

I turned it on with about 3 minutes left, and ND's Grant took every shot down the court.

I know Grant is probably their best player, but really...3 guys wide open while four are on you, and you take THAT shot?

Selfish, IMHO.

ND's football team fell off a cliff after losing to us, and didn't win many more games.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the ND basketball team won't win another game this season.

Six seconds with no timeouts to get the ball the length of the court while being guarded the full length doesn't leave time for a pass.

Kentucky defended that play really, really well. Pressured the inbounds pass & maintained pressure on him the entire length of the court.

It's not that unusual in that situation for a guy to get the quick inbounds pass & get down the floor uncontested, allowing his team to get off a pretty good shot because the team that just took the lead does a poor job of transitioning into their defensive setup. I often think coaches "overcoach" the offensive side of the ball when they have timeouts left, calling a TO, or multiple TOs, to try to design a play, when they'd be better suited just getting the ball in the hands of their best player & letting him try to win the game. That was not the case last night, ND would've really been benefited from having a TO left to set something up.

As to the original question, I personally was much more disappointed by NDs loss last night than I was with their loss last October.

Yep, the Bray timeout (ND's last) to set up defense with around 34 seconds left was an interesting call. On one side you would think UK would bleed the clock and take a last second shot so it was win or OT and not give ND a chance- in that case no reason to take an extra time out with you. It played out that UK went early and with a timeout ND would have had a ton of time to set up a much better play- even a drive to the bucket for a potential tie.

ND's last two offensive possessions (before the last second shot) were TURRRIBLE. More worried about running the clock then running the offense. They are the #1 rated half court offense in the nation and had to settle for a last second, shot clock violation shot?
