Softball No. 7 FSU returns to play at Louisville on Friday

The No. 7 Florida State softball team (40-6, 14-1) will look to stay on top of the ACC standings this weekend as it heads to Louisville to face the Louisville Cardinals (23-21, 6-12) at Ulmer Stadium. The series opener is set for 6 p.m. with Saturday's games at 1 p.m. Both games can be seen live on ACCNX with Suzanne Bush (Play by Play) and Joanna Lane (Color) on the call. Sunday's series finale will be at 6 p.m. on the ACC Network with Pam Ward (Play by Play) and Jenny Dalton-Hill (Color) on the call.

Noles Head to Louisville to Face Cardinals
  • Florida State returns to the diamond this week as they head to Louisville to face on the Cardinals in the second-to-last series of the season.
  • Louisville is 23-21 and 6-12 in the ACC this season.
  • The Cardinals are coming off a series loss to Virginia last weekend in Charlottesville. Louisville won the series opener 6-5 before dropping the final two games of the series. The Cardinals fell on Tuesday night at home to Western Kentucky, 2-0.

What’s At Stake?
  • Once again, FSU has put itself in a prime spot to take home an ACC Regular Season Championship and secure the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament.
  • FSU can clinch the ACC Championship this weekend with a sweep and two losses from Virginia Tech. The Hokies play at Cal this weekend.
  • If FSU wins two out of three against Louisville, a Cal sweep over Virginia Tech and one Clemson loss this weekend against Georgia Tech will give FSU the title.
  • An ACC Regular Season Title would be FSU’s 15th overall and eighth under Head Coach Lonni Alameda.

Noles’ History against the Field
  • FSU leads the series against Louisville 21-8-1.
  • FSU has won five out of the last six games in Louisville.
  • FSU won two out of the three games last season in Louisville.

Last Time Out
  • FSU headed out west to California for four games in five days against Saint Mary’s and Cal and came away with four wins.
  • FSU outscored its opponents 38-7 in four games.
  • Jahni Kerr led the way with three home runs and 11 RBI in the four games.
  • Six different Noles hit 10 home runs, and the team posted a 1.38 team ERA in the four games.

Noles Getting Hot at the Right Time
  • Florida State softball is beginning to look like Florida State softball once again as the Noles enter the final month of the regular season
  • FSU is 40-6 and 14-1 in ACC play. FSU’s 14-1 start is the program’s best start since finishing 24-0 in ACC play in 2017.
  • FSU won 14 consecutive games from Mar. 11-April 2 and have won 29 out of its last 32 games.
  • FSU has won 40 games this season and 17 of them have come via the run rule.
 
Update to FSU-Louisville weekend schedule:

Florida State and Louisville softball have adjusted this weekend's series schedule due to inclement weather in the area. Tonight's game has been pushed back to 8 p.m. with Saturday's game now beginning at 3 p.m. Both games will still be streamed on ACCNX.

Sunday's game will still take place at 6 p.m. on the ACC Network.
