I thought Norvell’s game planning ability was very evident last year based on the fact of how competitive we were in games we were highly outmatched in. Norvell game planned us into being into contention in the final moments on the road at Clemson, who finished 10-3 and ranked #14. We were a botched onside kick away from possibly beating UF in the Swamp. A UF team who hung though with Alabama and was ranked in the top 20 for the first half of the season.

FSU also took a highly regarded Notre Dame to overtime. That Notre Dame team finished 11-2 and ranked #8. He also game planned us to only being down a touchdown late against a much better NC State team who went 9-3 and ranked #19. These were moral victories, yes, but showed a lot of growth in the teams ability to compete against some of the best teams out there.

Norvell game planned us to a win at UNC for his second win over Mack Brown and Sam Howell. He also game-planned us to a win against Miami.

The fact we were actually in these games, and even won a few, says a lot about his gameplanning abilities. “Lose by a lot, lose by a little, win by a little…” I think that win by a little is the stage we finally enter into in 2022.

One thing is for sure, we were definitely in the “lose by a lot” stage under Willie…

Clemson beat us 59-10 in 2018 & 45-14 in 2019
UF beat us 41-14 in 2018 and 40-17 2019
NC State beat us 47-28 in 2018
Notre Dame beat us in 42-13 2018
Miami beat us 27-10 in 2019
Virginia Tech beat us 24-7 in 2018
Heck Syracuse beat us 30-7 in 2018

We have truly come a long way folks! A lot of that is Norvell’s game-planning ability, especially when you consider what covid did to our ability to train and prepare.

Just the daily wake up message to all the Norvell haters out there. This team is still climbing!
