Last night I had a lengthy conversation with Michael Wilbon. For those who have seen me post before you know my ties to this great university as well as Chicago sports. Anyway, I flat out asked him why they take the opportunity to slander us any chance they get and he was VERY open and honest. He said controversy sells but that they have good cop bad cop as much as they can. At least in regards to his show. He then went on to say Jameis made it easy for them in most cases. No one knows what happened in that apartment that night but it points to her lying.

However, when you boil it down it was a black male and a white woman and for some people that is still in issue in this country. That being said they played out to their audience (SEC) to make it look like he got away with it and didn't learn his lesson and was entitled yadda yadda ya.

He did say that they have gone overboard which was refreshing to hear. He touched on the DJ situation and said he is glad that he was out when it happened because he has a mortgage to pay and he might have put that in jeopardy with his opinion. Some people on the board will disagree and not like to hear it but in that situation if you watch the ENITRE video that woman was the aggressor. Should DJ have been punished? Yes. But there is no reason he should no longer be on the football team based on the entirety of the situation. He actually mentioned Joe Mixon and said at the very worst that is what should have happened with DJ. He actually thinks had we not had all the issues with Jameis that in fact would have been the case.

He then touched on Dalvin. He said the fact that there is no video and the fact that her story is all over the place he shouldnt be suspended. He said behind the scenes a lot of people at ESPN realize we are no worse than any other major college football program we just are an easy target because of the "Criminoles" tag from the 90's. He said people actually fear debating Danny in most cases because he hits with facts and whit and has made several people look really dumb in production meetings.

He was very complimentary of Jimbo which was cool to hear. He said that he learned from two of the best and that it the proof is in the pudding with how quickly he was able to turn our program around and what he is doing with recruiting. He said that he would pay his own money to go to our game against Bama in 2017. He said that's the type of match up that should happen annually and that the playoffs should encourage. Mentioned that marquee games have gone to the wayside and thats not what college sports is about. In order to be the best you need to beat the best. Beating up on cupcakes and then playing in your conference isn't the best indicator (Specifically mentioned Bama vs Ohio State at this point from the CFB playoffs last year). Mike also stated that with USC being off of their sanctions and Strong being at Texas, coupled with Jimbo here, Meyer and Harbaugh the heavyweights are back and he doesn't think the SEC wins one for a while.

The funniest thing he said IMO was how heavy they shoved the Mississippi teams down our throats and what happened to them in Bowl games. Said that the SEC chest beating should simmer down. Schools across the country recruit the same players so what conference they play in makes no difference. Its about coaching and player development at the end of the day. The only other comment he made regarding FSU and college football is that he belives FSU,USC, an SEC school and Ohio State make the playoffs. He couldn't give a title game match up based on seeding but said he would like to see us against USC just because of the cheerleaders in the title game lol.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading this. I only ask that you please be respectful if you don't have anything nice to say because he is a family friend.

Go Noles!
