A friend and I are coming down for the Miami game next month. I've visited once, in 2003, for a game, & it's my buddy's first time.

Here for suggestions. Anything you guys would like to share is appreciated. A few questions / ideas below; keep in mind we're both in our 30's, I'm married but buddy is single.

- Sod Cemetary. This is one of the musts. I imagine it's easy to find?
- Can we tour the stadium? Are there guided tours, or would we be able to roam around on our own?
- I imagine the Heisman trophies and Championship trophies are on display. We'd love to see those.
- Tallahassee restaurants or other things to see or do besides football stuff?
- I don't hear great things about Panama Beach ... would you recommend Destin instead?

That's about it, but any other ideas I'd love to hear. We'll get to town on Wednesday & be there through the end of the game / early Sunday morning.

The Moore Center will be open for you to view trophies and traditions. I would also check out the Marching Chiefs at Dick Howser stadium prior to the game. There are facilities tours for boosters on Friday night, so if you're one, contact @jamnolfin . If you're not one, contact @jamnolfin . Downtown Get down on Friday night is a good time as well.

The sod cemetery is easy to find, it's between the Stadium and the football practice facility. I'm not sure about the Heisman and other awards I haven't tried to tour it near games, hopefully someone else knows about that and stadium tours.

Regarding Panama City your info is probably out of date. Last year they really cracked down on the underage and/or public drinking going from ultra Nawhlins style permissive to fricking gestapo cops to cut out the college kids and poor Bama and Mississippi "redneck riviera" tourons. They made a very dramatic shift to push for higher end wealthy tourists. The local restaurants and hotels that catered to those poorer tourons are not happy and have lost lots of money so we'll see if it holds.

But honestly I do not rec PCB or Destin, the best place to visit is in between the two i.e. Grayton, Alys Beach, Seaside etc... Lots of great little high end restaurants and shops tucked in there with really nice rental properties and the best beaches in Florida and some of the best in the world. If your rental doesn't have a private beach, I suggest the state parks specifically Deer Lake and Grayton but the others are nice as well.

Regarding restaurants in Tally:

Best restaurant imo is Cypress followed by Avenue Eat and Drink both for your higher end foodie food although neither are "out there" with exotic or lesser utilised ingredients. They're good "safe" foodie food.

If you want good pizza there's a ton especially Isabella's for Naples style, Blaze which is a fast casual chain but fantastic, Momo's, Mellow Mushroom etc...

For steak I highly rec Teds in town. It's a chain, but a good one I've never had a bad meal. Their jumbo crab cakes are the best I've had outside of Maryland and the buffalo/bison steaks, pot roast, meatloaf, and hamburgers are tough to beat. I prefer it to the more expensive Shula's which is also a chain. But both eclipse Marie Livingston's the only mom and pop steak place in town imo.

If you want to go exotic I really like the Filipino restaurant Real Sarap, the Indian place Samrat, Azu which is an Asian fusion place with good but not authentic Japanese and Chinese food and the Indonesian place Tan's Asian Cafe (which also sells Japanese and Chinese but stick with the Indonesian here). There's also a good place for arepas with the best fried fried yucca I've had Arepana Latin Grill but it's a lunch place not dinner.

I'm out

Well Gordos looks ... tasty.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Already started looking Grayton, Alys Beach & Seaside.

It is a good place to eye shop for coeds but the food is very subpar. You're not going to think you're in Tampa, Miami or Key West when you're tasting the food. It's probably as good as the Cuban you'd find in Nebraska.

You'd THINK you could find good Cuban in Tally, but just like BBQ and seafood (excluding Shell Oyster Bar which is one of the best cheap fried seafood places I've been to period, especially the scallops and shrimp) you'd be wrong. We also have a lot of Mexican but only one good one (La Tiendita) and Greek places (but I haven't found a good one, I am hopeful the new Papas Diner is decent) but you don't have good choices for that.

The Moore Center is open on gameday to view the Championship Trophies, Heisman displays, etc. It normally closes between 90 minutes and 2 hours before gametime.

Not to disagree with the Tallahassee's own galloping gourmand of Bar-Bee-Que (in my best Gabby Reece voice), but South Floridians, some pictured above, think Gordo's is worth a stop. Maybe we should put Nebraska on our travel list given his high praise.

Ok, then it doesn't meet Tampa standards. I was being generous to South Florida.

You're overthinking this. Tribe, you're our boy and all, but it's ok to slow down sometimes and just enjoy things for what they is.

Oh I get it. There's some good places to ogle some coeds (Madison Social, Potbelly's et al). I just wouldn't rave about the cuisine. And honestly...it's Tally, you don't really have to go out of your way anywhere near campus to see beautiful women. That's one of Tally's best natural resources.
