That’s similar to what I’m doing, going through the webpage vs the app. The difference is if you press and hold the gif, then flick up, it will give you the option to “copy”. But it’s a PITA over the old way of using the app.

You still have to paste it in the image url. The portrait next to the the smileys. Should be good to go.
