Parents brawl at youth softball game

Makes me glad my one daughter did Irish step dancing...

At one of my sons games several years ago two of the coaches on the other team got into a drag down fight. The ex wife of one of the coaches jumped up in the stands, pointed and screamed "AND THAT'S WHY WE'RE NOT MARRIED ANYMORE"

It will have to be a situation where I can't afford souse and crackers before I ever coach high school baseball again

I despise travel ball and travel ball parents.

99% of travel ball is about playing time and leaving this team for that team over it.

It might have changed now, but it used to also be about pricing black kids out of the specialized training to have little Johnny have an advantage in a world where he would be 'out athleted' in even settings. You would pick up a kid that would help you, however.

Economically, Towns love tournaments, and I'm not about doing away with it. 95% of the kids aren't seeing scholarships, but their money spends well.

Parents of youth wrestlers are often horrible people. I’ve seen a lot of really disgraceful behavior from parents, to the point that police were summoned and the parent removed from the gym (several times in fact). Most of the time, the kid is getting smashed on the mat, the parent flips out, and it just goes from there.

I’ve had parents yell at their kid to try to hurt my son, which isn’t a good idea. We have a little beast on the mat, virtually unbeatable last year, and he knows how to make kids who try to cheat or pull BS moves very “uncomfortable.”

Yes get a tech pin while putting them in some painful moves. There was a guy I wrestled with that would do that if his opponent pissed him off. He loved getting them in a surfboard or spladle. Of course really hard crossfaces can do some damage.

I’ve told Jake that if he hears a parent yelling at him, or telling their kid to hurt him or do something stupid, I want him to put the kid on his stomach and slap a tight crossface on him and then smile at the parent, or, if he can’t get the crossface, a nasty chicken wing hurts plenty too.
