PGSF FedEx Cup Week 28 The Open Championship

It seems this year has been a complete crap shoot on who will play well and win each tournament. Gone are the dominating players week to week.

Last year Day was on a tear, before that Speith, before that Rory. It seemed during their runs they would be dominant for years to come. The next year they faded and the next person stepped up.

For me I think life got in the way and they were not able to focus and retain the committment needed to stay on top. That's just my opinion though.

I like the fact that there is no dominant player that wins each week and the leaderboard is different from week to week.

1. what a round
2. was sure the miss at 62 would cause a blow up
3. glad it didnt, although did leave a couple on the back nine
4. Stenson is playing well..nice pick SeaPA
5. Cant believe no one picked last years champ, who again is playing well
6. I still miss the ESPN gang
7. I hope he has two more good rounds
8. Then Phil would be in Lizards debt for at least a year

I don't miss ESPN's broadcast. You have Tirico anyway and I like Feherty and Faldo. I am not esp looking forward to hearing Miller call the final rounds.

Spieth with his third missed putt of the round from 4 feet. If he was thinking about shooting a low score today, he can forget about it.

Not able to watch this am, dang it.
So, How does Phil look, seems like he is maintaining from watching scoreboard?

He hasn't been as sharp as he was the first two rounds but he's scrambling well. He's only hit half of the fairways to this point. He will need to improve that stat if he wants to hang on.

thank you sir...should be an interesting final round.

It will be brutal out there today. At least for much of the day anyway. Cloudy, maybe some rain, cold with temps in the 50's, and of course the wind. Was supposed to be 10 mph. It is at least double that.

Phil with a potty mouth after his second on 18. Hilarious because that's so far from his on course persona.

I might have said the same. The camera clickers know better than to start taking pics before the ball is hit.

I understand that but in reality, they're camera clicks. I would think their level of concentration would be high enough to be able to block out such a benign sound.

You probably know what it is like though when a sudden sound occurs in your back swing and distracts you enough to not hit the shot you wanted to hit. I had a former pro tell me one degree off equals seven yards. With the accuracy the pros have that one or two degrees off at impact is a large difference. Throw in that you are now in serious contention to win a major and to me I can see why Phil or any golfer would go off on these photographers.

I also know what it's like to play in front of thousands of screaming people whose goal was to distract you by their screaming. I was able to block out that and compete. Now if someone blew an air horn or something I'd buy that. But the decibel level of a camera click shouldn't be enough to distract a focused professional athlete.

If it is a constant stream of sound I know that doesn't bother me. But that sudden sound that wasn't there as I started my swing, that will generally make me flinch just enough to turn it into a poor shot. With the continuous sound there isn't really any one specific thing to draw your attention or maybe it is just easier to block it out. That one little sound draws my ear to it every single time and thus my concentration on my swing. I imagine that is what it is like for the pros to some degree based on their reaction and what their shots often look like.

The iron driver decision on 6 and 7 was interesting

What a putt by Stenson. With the way he is making no mistakes from the tee and the fairway, this looks to be his first major.

Quite a golf match. I believe it rivals when Junah took on Jones and Hagen in Savannah.

What a joy the mute button is. These announcers are pathetic with trying to add artificial drama, mundane analysis and describing lies and shots that just aren't real. I only turn the mute off to hear the crowd response to each shot, and it's so much more enjoyable. Why didn't I think of this before?

It was interesting hearing them critique Phil's choice of an iron off the tee on 16. Clearly he had a plan for that hole and executed it perfectly in getting on the green in two.

It really is. Great final round so far
I was only seven when Watson and Nicklaus dueled here before, and I wasn't yet watching sports at all. Wish I had chosen either or both of these guys, of course, but this has truly been an incredible display of golf today.

Oh...Someone needs to take the camera of one of these jerks taking photos prematurely and bash it over his head to set an example.

Very happy for Stenson, and very pleased Mickelson lost. I have never been able to warm to that
guy. He's always seemed to carry an air of arrogance, and the insider trading combined with owing
gamblers millions of dollars tells me all I really need to know about his character. I think the real Phil
is very different from the public persona he shows the public.

Other than seeing the leader board you would not know there where other players on the course. They went to commercial break almost after each hit.

This brings up another thought. While I have always liked Phil being a LH golfer myself , we pull for our own, he must have a serious gambling habit to run up such debts and have issues paying it off with his wealth. I suspect much of his liquid assets are being controlled by wife and or accountant in an attempt to keep his habit in check. If his habit is this bad, would ever come to an issue with letting a gambler influencing his game? I don't think it would but we have seen over the years gambling work its way into other sports.

I hate to be a person caught in the moment, but that has to be in the conversation for greatest round of golf played. Stenson has always been known as a good (great) ball striker, which was great today, but his putting was incredible. The 15th sealed the deal with that bomb, when it looked like Phil might have a chance to close the gap. That was such a fun round of golf to watch. No one would have taken a bet that Mickelson shoots 65 and loses by 3, incredible round by Stenson. Today is why we are all golf fans...

congratulations to this weeks winner,
SeaPA, great pick with Stenson
