FSU punts it away with about four minutes to go. Doesn't get the ball back. Game over. Seminoles now 2-5 overall.
Pitt 41, FSU 17 FINAL

Chubba throws a terrible pass while being pressured. Right to a safety who returns it for a touchdown. Chubba just keeps passing and passing and passing. And it's not going well.
Pitt 41, FSU 17 6:19 4th Qtr

Pitt extends the lead to 17 with a 19-yard FG. Impressive goal line stand there by the FSU defense. Pitt got three cracks from the 1 yard line and FSU held each time. But alas, they're still down by three scores with 12 minutes left.
Pitt 34, FSU 17 12:01 4th Qtr

Purdy has had two drives that didn't net very much. The first drive even got 30 yards in Pitt penalties but it didn't matter. FSU has all but abandoned the running game for some reason. And it has not worked. Pitt is now driving with a minute left in the third quarter, close to putting this game away (if it isn't already).
Pitt 31, FSU 17 :30 3rd Qtr

Well that wasn't the start you were looking for. Travis doesn't start the second half. He's nowhere to been on the sideline. Blackman starts instead. Throws an incompletion and then a terrible pick. Pitt scores three plays later. Chubba is now warming up.

Both teams exchange punts. FSU gets the ball back with 1:30 left. Travis gets sacked on the first play but then Terry draws a PI on a deep shot. And the Seminoles get another first down to get in range for Grothaus, who drills a 47-yard FG to end the half. Possibly big points there. The concern is that FSU simply can't block Pitt without Devontay Love-Taylor. Might not have been able to block them with him, but this is a no-contest. FSU has to figure out a way to alleviate that. Pitt has 5 sacks and 9 tackles for loss already.
Pitt 24, FSU 17 HALFTIME

FSU goes for it on fourth down at midfield on 4th and 2. Gets stuffed.
Pitt scores in three plays. The last 12 coming on a scramble from glacial QB Pickett. FSU defense looks done. Halftime is coming though so maybe they can regroup.
Pitt 24, FSU 14 2:35 2nd

Pitt goes right down the field to take the lead. Patti on another QB keeper out of the shotgun. Everyone in the stadium knows it's coming. FSU DE (might have been 11) just kneels down and lets him run right past. Walk-in score. But hey, we knew this was coming. FSU's defense is bad. So this was inevitable. FSU has to start matching scores. And get something going offensively.
Pitt 17, FSU 14 5:57 2nd

FSU offense goes backwards. Pitt DL is owning this game right now. Two sacks and a TFL on a QB draw. They tried to take a shot to Terry but it was too far out in front. Pitt now with the ball back at the FSU 40.
FSU 14, Pitt 10 7:38 2nd

Pitt gains a first down, but a critical illegal block call pushes them back. Brownlee makes an open-field tackle on third and 10 and then Pitt pushes the FG wide to the right. Nice stand there by the FSU defense.
FSU 14, Pitt 10 8:46 2nd

FSU goes for it again on 4th and 1. But a false start backs it up to a 4th and 6. Then Travis gets sacked and now Pitt has the ball at the FSU 46. Travis was sacked twice in the span of three plays on that drive.
FSU 14, Pitt 10 12:39 2nd

FSU has a third and 2 at its own 47 as we head into the second quarter. Travis with a nice little scramble pass to Daniel to pick up about 8 on the play. Norvell elected to go for it on fourth and 1 from his own 34 and Corbin rewarded him with a four-yard run.
FSU 14, Pitt 10 15:00 2nd

Travis throws an interception on third and 7. Freshman Poitier turned outside, Travis threw it inside, right to the DB, and Pitt took over in FSU territory. Five plays later they were in the end zone, finishing off the final two yards on a QB keeper by backup Nick Patti.
FSU 14, Pitt 10 2:09 1st

Momentarily it looks like FSU scores on a scoop and score by Stephen Dix on a sack by Kaindoh. But on further review it sure looks like Pickett's arm was moving forward. So will be an incomplete pass. And Pitt will be punting from its own 28.
FSU 14, Pitt 3 1st Qtr 4:07

That didn't take long. Travis keeps it on a third and 3 play, makes the defender grasp air and then takes it 88 yards for a score. He's a unique, unique weapon with his legs.
FSU 14, Pitt 3 5:11 1st Qtr

FSU defense gets a six and out. Allows one third down conversion but a nice tackle by Jarrian Jones on the next third down throw gets FSU defense off the field. Pitt struggling to get anything going running the ball so far. FSU ball but at its own 5 after a good punt and a holding call.
FSU 7, Pitt 3 6:18 1st Qtr

Great drive there by the FSU offense. 75 yards in 10 plays, took 3:03 off the clock. Seminoles get the final yard on a 1-yard TD run by TE Wyatt Rector after he went in motion and then stepped up and took the snap. Caught Pitt off guard. Cool play. Biggest plays of the drive were a 22-yard pass to McDonald and a 15-yard run by Corbin. Travis had 15 yards on two carries.
FSU 7, Pitt 3 9:28 1st Qtr

Pitt hits a 49-yard pass on third and 11. Nobody near him. The entire defense was looking at sideline when ball was snapped. But FSU gets off the field after that and Pitt has to settle for a 51-yard FG, which it drills.
Pitt 3, FSU 0 12:31 1st Qtr

FSU wins the toss. Defers. So Pitt will get ball first. Which means we get to see this Florida State defense right away!

Getting some rain coming in, but no lightning so far.

PREGAME UPDATES

Lots of depth chart changes.

Looks like the starting safeties will be Gant and Woodie. Briggs gets the start at DT with Wilson out. Brownlee starting at the corner opposite Samuel.

Also, looks like Ira Henry is starting at right guard instead of Baveon. So the OL is (from left) Love-Taylor, Lucas, Smith, Henry and R. Scott. This will be the first time Henry has played meaningful time in a game. Baveon is dressed out, but not starting.

Looks like Grothaus will be the kicker, and Keyshawn Helton will return punts.

That's it for pregame. ... Corey will have game updates once we kick off.

3:25 -- Looks like FSU's Jaiden Lars-Woodbey is going through pregame warmups with the linebackers. Has played there earlier in career before moving to safety this season.

3:20 p.m. -- FSU also will not have DT Marvin Wilson today against Pitt. He's not in uniform for warmups.

3:17 p.m. -- FSU DB Travis Jay is not dressed out today. Neither is DB Hamsah Nasirildeen nor DB Renardo Green.

3:15 p.m. -- Meant to mention this earlier. LB Emmett Rice got the honor of bringing the sledgehammer to today's game. That means he had the best overall week of preparation.

3:05 p.m. -- Group of FSU players back out in full uniform now -- QBs, RBs and some skill players.

FSU wearing traditional garnet tops and gold pants. Pitt wearing white tops and yellow pants.

Story on Terry, Pickett expected to play today

2:50 p.m. -- WR Tamorrion Terry is dressing out for today's FSU-Pitt game. He's currently taking a walk around the field. We'll let you know how he looks when he starts running.

2:30 pm — There’s now a report that Pickett is indeed starting. He looks ok moving around on the ankle, but we’ll see how it holds up through a game. ... Also, a group of FSU wide receivers is our warming up, and Tamorrion is not with them. Doesn’t mean he can’t come out later, but he’s not with the first group out early.

2:13 pm — Pitt QB Kenny Pickett, who has missed the last two weeks with a sprained ankle, is going through early warmups. Just light throwing so far. Does have a little wrap/brace on his left ankle.

FSU QBs Jordan Travis, Chubba Purdy, James Blackman and Tate Rodemaker also came out early with OC Kenny Dillingham. Just doing some light throwing.

Good afternoon from Doak!

It's an overcast day with the temp in the high 70s. A few FSU players have already taken the field for light warmups, including all four QBs -- Travis, Purdy, Blackman and Rodemaker.

Will have more shortly.
