FSU (16-13, 7-11 ACC) plays its final ACC regular-season road game against Virginia (14-15, 7-11) on Tuesday at 9 p.m. The game will be broadcast by the ACC Network.
The Seminoles stayed on the road after the loss at Duke on Saturday night, traveling straight to Charlottesville, Va.
Virginia has lost three of the last four games. The Cavaliers are coming off their best win, 83-75 at KenPom No. 77 Wake on Feb. 26. They are very impressive from 3-point range, shooting 37.7 percent (21st in Division I). Virginia is shooting 50.4 percent from inside the arc (212th).
Cavs interim coach Ron Sanchez on Monday's ACC zoom: "I stand on the shoulders of men like Leonard Hamilton."
This is Hamilton's best shot at the 200th regular-season ACC win, considering SMU (21-8, 12-6) is coming up at home on Saturday.
Jamir Watkins has scored 23, 26 and 21 in consecutive games. The last to score 20 or more points in four straight games? Go back to Dwayne Bacon in 2015-16, during non-conference play.
There's no update on Malique Ewin, who was injured in the UNC game and did not play at Duke. I asked Hamilton about Ewin on Monday on the ACC coaches' zoom: "I have no idea about Malique. He's getting a lot of treatment, a lot of therapy. I'm just hoping for the best for him because it's extremely challenging without having him in the interior."
Without Ewin, life will be difficult - although this isn't the best rebounding Virginia team. Alier Maluk had seven points and three rebounds in 21 minutes against UNC. At Duke, in his first career start, Maluk had no points, two rebounds and three turnovers in 14 minutes. He was in early foul trouble.
Christian Nitu played 15 minutes at Duke. He's lost on the defensive end of the court, but he had two points and four rebounds.
"Alier and Christian are giving us good effort," Hamilton said. "But there are times they play like freshmen. But the passion that they play with, the effort they play with, I'm very, very impressed with and I'm sure it's going to make a difference in how they progress down the road."
