They’re explicitly to show solidarity with Hamas and worn by a group saying things like “from the river to the sea.” Ie, antisemitic genocidal terrorists. Might as well be wearing white hoods. They should be embarrassed.
I can understand feeling empathy for children killed in Gaza. I can understand opining that Israel should be careful. I cannot understand an American who has awareness of 9/11 and the history of the the regional Islamic position on Israel, knowing that the denizens of Gaza believe that Israel should not exist and are virulently both anti semitic and anti us, knowing that Hamas attacked on purpose young people who were non combatants, filmed it and the gleeful mutiliation of Israel citizens, took hostages including American citizens… I cannot understand an American showing solidarity with Hamas, quoting their slogans, wearing their clothes and asserting that Israel is wrong for responding to an explicit attack on civilians that killed more people proportionally to Israel than 9-11. Seems like a Jewish person might perceive that as a threat, no?
If Hamas managed to execute a similar attack on Austin city limits festival, for example, Gaza would be glass. But, we are ripping Israel?
The apartheid and genocide rhetoric is insultingly stupid.
The umbrellas and gas masks are to 1) obscure identity 2) physically resist arrest, defend their occupation.
The trash is there because the occupiers brought the trash on campus.
