Was watching a game where a player caught a punt but had a player of the other team right in front of them. Has anyone ever seen a player purposely call for a fair catch deeper than the ball is coming to intentionally make the ball hit the defensive player? It would be tricky because if it doesn't hit the player it could bounce and hit the returner making it a muffed punt. Any thoughts? Anyone seen it before?
