Guess I don't know why you would by the low end of the line. If you want a range rover get a Range Rover. Small, underpowered, and not much room for a SUV. If you must have something in this class, the Macan Turbo. Way better ride. But I wouldn't commend either.

Because when you don't have coin, you want to look like you have coin...

I owned a LR about 7 years ago. Really liked it, nice ride and we'll appointed. The problem was there was always something wrong with it, probably how it earned the moniker "The Weekend Warrior".

This has always been the problem. A buddy has two, his and hers, one is always in the shop.

Interesting story of an expedition of Range Rovers that traveled the Pan-American highway from Alaska to the southern tip of South America. These were the classic Range Rovers from the early 70's. (some don't realize they even had 2 door versions back then)

When they got to Panama, the road ended. It is an area known as the Darien Gap, a hot, sticky swamp between Panama City and the Colombian border.

Living in Panama at the time, I remember (what the article doesn't emphasize much) is that a regular Land Rover (what is a Defender now) was needed to get them through the jungle as a trail blazer. That Land Rover is in a museum in Panama City now, beat to hell.
