Wondering if the reason for the push of 2 power football conferences is kids are just not playing football as they once were? If the pool of perspective players is shrinking, the networks have invested a LOT of money and need a return on their investment (ROI). The major networks want to maximize their ROI, if the pool of players has gone down would it not make sense to consolidate conferences?
When I played high school football (1978-1981) we needed a kicker. During 2-a-days our head coach saw kept seeing a soccer ball kicked far. He walked over watched the guy kick the ball and said get a helmet and shoulder pads. The kid was Kipper Sopp - or for you wresting fans Monty Kip Sopp (Billy Gunn). The reason I bring this up is football ruled in Florida. I assume it still rules in places, but at the level it once was?
Thoughts?
