RIP Chandler Bing

Yesterday it was reported that the coroner needed more information to note his cause of death. He did not drown, or his lungs would be filled with water, and it would be obvious. Me thinks more like a heart attack, causing him to slip under the water.

The ratings Friends and Seinfeld got were astounding. Like the only thing comparable nowadays are big NFL games. They were getting those ratings every week for like 25 weeks per year.

They're still getting syndication wealth.

I wonder who will get Matthew Perry's millions?

He wasn't married and had no kids.

I had to look this up just to see how shows from the past compare. Friends and Seinfeld did pretty well. I was surprised at how many people watched Survivor and American Idol. The Cosby Show put up some good numbers as well in the day.

Man the numbers were crazy back in the 80s and prior. But makes sense, not many options and can’t DVR it.
someone figured out that one of the largest ever flush events, for lack of a better term, was following the end of the series finale of MASH.

Latest report is that he most likely died of a drug overdose. A female friend said he was never clean, despite 15 stints in rehab. Said he was simply "lying to everyone."

Perry, 54, was found unresponsive at his home on Oct. 28 "floating face down in the heated end" of the pool, the autopsy report said. The report says the death was accidental and that no signs of foul play were suspected. His cause of death is listed as the "acute effects of ketamine," with contributing factors listed as "drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects." (Buprenorphine is a medication used to treat opioid use disorder.)

The actor had gone out to play pickleball around 11 a.m. the morning of his death and returned home two hours later, witnesses told police in reports that were included with the autopsy. His assistant had gone out to run errands shortly afterward — the last time Perry was seen alive — and upon return found the actor dead, the report said. Police pronounced him dead at 4:17 p.m., the report said.

Just over an hour after midnight on Oct. 29, Perry was transported from his house to the Forensic Science Center. Perry's autopsy was performed later that day.

Perry struggled with addiction for many years, although he reportedly had been clean for 19 months, the autopsy report said. Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, with the last treatment a week and a half before his death, the autopsy report said. Perry had been responding to treatment and was "in good spirits," police said a witness told them in their incident report.

Key sentences bolded and underlined. Very sad.

Understand but he didn't overdose on an illegal drug like is normally assumed when the phrase "drug overdose" is used.
I believe that's exactly what he did. "ACUTE effects of ketamine" is much different than "contributing factor." He was getting the infusions from a doctor as a way to keep using, and also found a way to self dose with ketamine.
