It sure hurts the day of and a few days later. But down the road, it sure as hell can make team-FSU far stronger of character. FSU did not lose a "generational" TEAMMATE. Those are "men of sound character." And last week, FSU certainly did not lose a man who EVIDENCED good "character." Why? Because "GOOD SOUND REASON" says that one's WORD is most important in the quantification of "character." Those that witnessed this travesty have been "fed" a diverse menu of "reasons that SOUND good." It is the "quality of a man" that separates "good reasons" from those that merely SOUND GOOD! I have not been a proponent of CMN based exclusively on his level of experience. My focus was on the golden years and "olden" coaches who delivered it. I realize that I was seriously misdirected in my purpose. CMN has again and again shown us all the remarkable depth of his character. He came to FSU saying that he wanted to" change a culture;" one that could besmirch FSU's age -old reputation of integrity. That Mr. Hunter did what he did (switched at the last moment) is one thing; but his deception and cavalier attitude that accompanied the act of switching... was quite another. IT WAS OBSCENE! Having observed the way mega millions of dollars are being tossed around and knowing that a school like FSU cannot compete with those "big-buckeroos, ".... WHAT TO DO? In that pursuit,, we have our man (CMN), who came to show us "the way how." BY BUILDING CHARACTER! There is a boarding school out on Long Island whose motto is "CHARACTER BEFORE CAREER." Seems like CMN may have roots up there. Well, Noles, it may be a longer road, but it certainly is a road worth pursuing. In point of fact, Mr. Hunter may have set the wide world of competitive sports back decades. At the same time, FSU has become the object lesson of this deception. Let it begin here. For the sake of GOOD SOUND REASON, for the sake of Mr. Hunter, for the sake of those who will follow in similar footsteps for years to come, but most of all, for GOD'S SAKE, let us ALL learn the importance of integrity from this travesty and with forgiveness of heart, grow in wisdom and character, then MOVE ON THE RIGHT WAY!.
