A few other notes:
- LB Emmett Rice has his right arm in a cast. However, I didn't see any braces or wraps on his knee. Still doing all the drills.
- RB Khalan Laborn is doing all the drills for now. He does have a brace on his knee but he isn't showing any signs of his injury. Still guessing that he'll be held out of full contact.
- DL Cedric Wood has his right hand in a cast.
- I saw OL Cole Minshew come out but didn't see him in drills. Probably limited.
Early Updates
No music during the early part of practice. However, it did start back up about halfway into practice. But really much more business-like. No open celebration between players and coaches like last spring.
Kendal Briles is running the show on offense as expected. Willie Taggart hasn't done much with the offense so far.
Ron Dugans is really stealing the show. You can tell he loves being back at FSU and is really getting into coaching the WRs.
Players at different positions:
- Deonte' Sheffield is back at running back
- Camm McDonald is working out with both the tight ends and receivers
- Levonta Taylor was getting in some work at safety
- Hamsah Nasirildeen was working at linebacker
- Jaiden Lars-Woodbey is at defensive back
As we mentioned before, Odell Haggins is coaching the whole defensive line. However, Mark Snyder is helping out some with the DEs.
Ira noticed that the defense was switching off a lot between a 4-3 and 3-4 with on DE dropping back to LB as needed. Giving the defense a little more flexibility depending on how the offense lines up.
First team OL:
RT: L. Dickerson
RG: M. Arnold
C. B. Johnson
LG: B. Scott
RT: J. Willliams
First team defense looked like this:
DL: Kaindoh, Wilson Durden, Robinson
LB: Brooks, Warner, Nasirildeen
DB: Samuels, Fagan, Taylor, Samuel

Willie Taggart
James Blackman
Marvin Wilson
Through the first few periods of practice, there has been no music. We’ll see if that changes.
——-
Taggart says Mark Snyder will coach special teams and help with linebackers. David Kelly will be a full-time recruiting coordinator.
Willie said Kelly is needed to be a full-time recruiting coordinator because of how much that process has changed with the transfer portal, etc.
Blackman said FSU is adopting Kendal Briles’ terminology. So this is his third straight year of doing that.
Blackman says he has added weight but reminds us all, he's a "different kind of skinny."
Blackman asked about the difference between now and being thrust into the job in 2017 "when I used to complete a 2 yd throw, I would get amped on the game field", points to be being more mature, ready
Wilson says last is last year, what he learned was what not to do.
Wilson on Blackman: "I'll go hard behind James Blackman....anything James Blackman want, I got it for him. I have much respect for James.
Wilson on Briles: "it makes you feel better as a defense when you know our offense can score points." Mentions he was recruited by Briles at Baylor.
Wilson had high praise for Robert Cooper, says Coop could be an All-American this year.

So today’s the day. First day of spring practice.
We’re scheduled to interview Willie Taggart, James Blackman and Marvin Wilson around 8:15 a.m., and then practice is completely open to fans and media after that.
Check back around 8:30 for updates and video interviews. Then we’ll have more updates throughout the morning.
