Statute of limitations on dumb statements?

As long as the media calls a spade a spade and applies this scrutiny evenly, I don't have an issue with it. The chink in the armor of the offended movement is its selective stance. People will feel jipped by unfunny, one sided attacks and will turn off with white-bread reactions

Plenty of folks who dole out the outrage have fallen victim to it. Aziz, Al Franken, Les Moonves are just three off the top of my head. Most of the folks in Hollywood / media who've taken a fall over the last 2 years are from the left and/or media.
So the outrage, at least at the mo, is being applied quite evenly.
In fact it's the consequences of the outrage that are not, seemingly folks who just say "who cares" or deny it can continue on without consequence whereas if you own upto it, you're dunzo. Sort of like how FSU got rung up for academic fraud b/c it admitted it whereas every other school pays players with dufflebags and the NCAA doesn't seem to care.

I don't use those idioms. I stopped a long time ago when I realized they offended some people, and growing up in them I didn't know they were offensive.

7 years ago, I might have. Who knows?

Oh I never meant to suggest you do. Nothing but respect for you man.

it depends on:

1) how vile was the initial statement
2) subsequent behavior that seems to endorse that statement
3) a pattern of other statements that either confirm or repudiate the previous statement.
4) the context of the original statement.
