Not that we need it, but if you want affirmation that FSU hired the right guy, look no further than Texas. The Longhorns are reportedly close to firing Hernan, and after Urban Meyer said no, their options are... James Franklin and Mario Cristobal.

Imagine if FSU would have hired one of those candidates. Cristobal has a losing record overall (like Taggart did) and Franklin coaches in the Big 10. We would be in an even worse situation.
Outside of Saban, Urban, Jimbo, Coach O and Dabo, nearly every other coach in America right now is unproven, so hiring someone not named above is a crapshoot.
In terms of ability to motivate, coach on gameday (competence) and provide the organizational structure to build a program, I still think Norvell is about the best we could have hoped for. Still remains to be seen if he can recruit and also win big games when his players have been brought in.
