Great movie, Jake Gyllenhaal is really a good actor in this, he's kind of a twisted guy anyway. He seems like a guy that is probably strange in real life also. It's about cameramen who chase crimes in LA and sell their footage to news outlets. Intense movie, perfect movie to watch after last nights Walking Dead.

Really surprised how much I liked this movie. Wasn't really sure what to expect going in, which is probably why I did like it so much, plus, I didn't expect much from JG's performance. But I've always had a kind of hatred for local news, which is also probably part of the reason I liked it so much.

But it was genuinely suspenseful at times, there were times I was just waiting for JG to do something, that he didn't do, but it felt like he was right on the verge. Very well done overall.

Why'd you have low expectations for JG? He's usually great, I expected a fantastic performance.

I knew what to expect & was genuinely captivated by this movie. So well done. Way up there for movies I saw in '14.

It was way to creepy and weird for me personally. I left the theater not liking, but I could see how others could. Same thing with Foxcatcher, great acting, but just to weird and creepy all around for me to really enjoy.

I wouldn't say that I thought he was a bad actor, but I can't really recall seeing him in a role that I thought was unique/difficult where I felt he excelled.

FTR, I've seen Prisoners, Source Code, Rendition, Zodiac, Day after Tomorrow, and Jarhead; and I actually liked most of these (all roughly 3/5* type movies). As I recall, all of these roles were relatively easy in comparison to his role in Nightcrawler.

It's a story about greed, and the lengths he would gi to be the best.
