Ira and Aslan will be watching today's football practice from Dick Howser. Updates from their observations will be posted here. Shortly after 6:15 p.m. ET we are scheduled to talk to Mike Norvell, an assistant coach (hopefully) and selected players.

-------------------------------------------------------------

FSU coaches have the wideouts working on their takeoffs against the DBs, trying to get separation off the line.
Keyshawn Helton had one of the best reps during that drill, beating Brandon Moore off the line. Ron Dugans was extremely excited about that one. A few moments later, though, Moore got him back and stuffed him at the line.
Jarvis Brownlee shut down everyone he went up against.

Helton with a diving catch off a pass from Milton during 1 on none drills. "Good job, Key!" Norvell shouted afterwards.

Atkins is in a not-too-happy mood today. The offensive line has had to stop and do up-downs a few times already. On one occasion he was just upset with how a player lined up before the drill even started. And they had to do up-downs for that. He ain't having it, today!

Oklahoma drill update

Quanshon Fuller and Deonte Williams were arguing over who got to take a rep. They both wanted to go. That's something!
Dix and Jermaine Johnson beat blockers for a tackle.
Brady Scott with a nice block on Briggs.
D.J. Lundy with a big hit after beating a block.
Johnson and Rice beat offense for a stop.
Maurice Smith did a nice job on Malcolm Ray.
Darius Washington blocked up Derrick McClendon well on a rep.
Travis Jay had a nice hit.
Kalen Deloach got a win after beating a block.
Brownlee and Sidney Williams blew up a play.
Jammie Robinson won with a big hit.
Fuller and Gant teamed up for a hit.
Brownlee beat a block to try to tackle D.J. Williams but Williams ran through it.
Keyshawn had a nice move to avoid a tackle in the hole.
Gainer and Rice teamed up to beat the offense and win the rep.

Just an FYI: Not a three-level drill today. Just two levels.

The teams did roughly 17 reps of the inside running drill. This is by Aslan's count.
He said the offense won 9. Defense won 8. He said unless he the offense gained two yards or less or the defensive coaches celebrated, he gave the win to the offense.

1 on 1 drills
Milton 2 for 4, completing one to Robinson and a deep one to Douglas. Williams and Moore had PBUs on the other two.

Rodemaker was 3 of 4, with completions to Burrell and McClain and a short completion to Preston Daniel.

MIlton was then 1 for 2 with a completion to Poitier. Young then dropped the next one, or at least, it hit him on the fingers.

Red zone
Rodemaker was 0 for 4 with an INT. Renardo Green with the pick.

Milton was 3 for 4 with a TD on a pass to Poitier. Nice catch. Also had a completion to Burrell on a pretty fade pass. Also hit Douglas on a slant for a TD.

1 on 1 pass rush
Lucas beat Ray.
Smith beat Thompson.
Briggs beat Brady Scott.
Robert Scott beat Fuller.
Lucas beat Ray.
Darius Washington beat Griffis.
McLendon beat Chaz Neal.
Joshua Farmer beat Ira Henry
Deonte Williams beat Chaz Neal

If the offensive lineman blocked the Dlinemen, that was a "win".

7 on 7 drills
Jordan Travis was 6 of 9.
Milton was 2 of 9.
Rodemaker was 2 for 6 (??) with a couple of short passes. Aslan said he was obstructed for the first three passes Rodemaker threw but said he thought they were all incomplete.

Zane Herring getting some work at center right now.

11 on 11
Travis was 2 of 5 passing, nothing more than 10 yards in the air.
Rodemaker was 4 of 5 passing.
Milton was 4 of 10 with an INT.

Brownlee had a big pop, Jarrian Jones had an INT on a blown up WR screen, he ran into pile and somehow picked off the ball.

Purdy didn't practice.
Shrader went down with a leg injury.

That's a wrap for the updates!
