This guy had plenty of time and there'a literally not a camera on earth he wouldn't gladly hop in front of if it meant he got an audience. I have to hope that this is just Tebow was/is a gator so let's trash him. If not it is really easy to see how society jumps on a situation, destroys a person and then moves on to let the person try and figure out what the heck just happened.

In today's day and age, you don't get to be quiet on certain issues. Silence is complicity. It's not a huge list, but denouncing Nazi's is pretty much near the top of that list. It's not even a remotely political issue. And if you think it is, you're probably on the side of the Nazi's.
And it's really not that hard to not get implicated. Simply make one statement denouncing Nazi's that doesn't sound like "There's lot's of good people on both sides." Why Taylor Swift and now Tim Tebow's PR teams don't get this is beyond me. If someone asks you if you're ok with Nazi's, just say no, they're anti-American, and you denounce it (And then move on).

I think this is a dangerous attitude and almost McCarthy-esque. Yes, it would be nice for everyone to denounce Nazi's and the like, but that isn't even really what we are talking here. We are talking about a specific video, that it is not even clear he was aware of (since ESPN said it was declined on his behalf). So, you are essentially setting it up so if a celebrity doesn't do a video or make a statement every time they are asked, now people can say they support (insert whatever cause here) without that person ever showing support for that cause.
You're over complicating things here.
Timmay is a devout goater, loves his school and in their most distressing hour, with nazis set to descend upon their swampy campus, they call upon him to simply record a short video saying "goater nation, ignore the hate, stay positive, love your fellow man," and not a peep is heard from him in response. Not even a "wish I could, schedule is packed" tweet that would allow himself some plausible deniability while still obediently bowing in deference to his nazi MySpace friends.
This isn't a McCarthy-esque anything. This guy never passes up the chance to gasp monosyllabic words into a camera until his face turns blue. Yet here when asked, not by some random outlet or group but by his beloved alma matar in the throes of a potential campus on fire, his silence, and haircut, mysteriously confirm what many already knew.

There was absolutely nothing complicated about what I said, much less overly complicated. You guys are setting the precedent that if someone doesn't speak out about an issue every time when asked, we can conclude that means they support (or don't support) that specific issue.

Look, I get it and you make a fair point, if a FSU player turned down making a quick video requested by the school denouncing the nazis set to embark on our campus I might not openly call him a nazi but I certainly would start wondering to myself, "hey, is this guy a nazi?" The thing is, as it became more and more clear, I'd stop defending him. One of two things would be true, either he's a nazi or he's been feigning his love and loyalty for the school all along.
With Timmay, I think we can agree, he's not a good enough actor to feign anything, so there's only one conclusion left.
I can understand your discomfort addressing this, you seem like a decent dude (goater loyalty not withstanding) and this is not an easy subject to come to grips with.

Reading many posts in this thread helps me understand how seemingly intelligent people throw accusations around like racists, homophobe, Nazi etc. If the standard of not agreeing or have similar views than the previously mentioned then it is really easy to apply the same rules to almost anyone whether they are in public or private life. Kind of reminds me of the question "when did you stop beating your wife"
High profile representatives (Which Timmy is) have an obligation to use their fame which they've sought after responsibly. If Timmy can't bring himself to make a small statement saying that we need to see each other as equals and denouncing Richard Spencer's remarks, then that is on him. And I'd feel the same way if any FSU player were asked to speak out about Spencer. Choosing not to means that at worst, he agrees with them, at best he values their "fandom" and his "image" more than he cares about the lives of others hurt by people like Spencer. To me that's just as bad. I understand saying you don't want to endorse a political candidate, or push for specific political causes that truly are debatable in America. But the superiority of a race over another isn't one of those debatable things.
It's quite possible that ESPN didn't run this by Timmy which just means that ESPN needs to be burned at the stake over their handling of this. But it seems more like cover and it's certainly something that Tim can speak up about now. All it takes is a simple statement that he was unfortunately unaware of the invitation but that he certainly values all lives regardless of color and would have loved the chance to give back to his university and help them draw people together when someone came to divide them.
I simply don't see why that's so difficult for people to see.
Tebow's response (or lack thereof) is something I would totally expect from a Nazi.
