Per TMZ, they removed him from life support. RIP Tom Petty.

Not many positive things come out of Hogtown, Petty and The Heartbreakers were up there. 'Live From Gatorville' is a fine concert video. I've got 'Running Down a Dream' playing off of Youtube right now. Never saw a band tighter than The Heartbreakers.

Well that just cuts it now don't it.
What an messed up day.

October 2 2017 is just a Dark Day...saw Petty in concert multiple times..great songwriter and musician...I just feel sick all over right now

Geez, that sucks.

This make it even sadder.

In December, Petty told Rolling Stonethat he thought this would be the group's last tour together. He said, "It's very likely we'll keep playing, but will we take on 50 shows in one tour? I don't think so. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was thinking this might be the last big one. We're all on the backside of our sixties. I have a granddaughter now I'd like to see as much as I can. I don't want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that's a lot of time."

Heart attacks bring death and sadness for surviving families. Trust me on this one.

I went through all the appropriate hand-wringing last year when we lost a bunch of legends...but now I know how people felt. I'm really shook by a celeb death for the first time in a long, long time.

Tom Petty was my absolute #1, not really close. His (largely forgotten) album Southern Accents was the most important album to me growing up, and probably my favorite album of all time.

This is going to be a tough one in my house. Kids grew up on Tom Petty from me, and Billy Joel from my wife. We exposed them to a ton of music over the years, but those were always the constants, and my kids have loved them fully and unironically.

Growing up in the MTV age, there were a lot of bands that MTV just overplayed, and Tom Petty was one of them, IMO. I never liked TP & tH's. He does have a family and I will say a prayer for them.

Like Les said, celebrity deaths usually mean nothing to me, in fact, any deaths the past couple of years have meant nothing to me.

God bless, Tom Petty.

Cool story bro.
