going to be relocating my family from Tampa to Orlando for a new job opportunity. Wondering if you guys could recommend some nice neighborhoods to look at when buying a house. Daughter is 2 so we want to be in good schools as well. I’ve driven through winter gardens and that looks like a nice area. TIA

Where will your job be located? Are you looking for a big house/lawn or more of a walkable neighborhood?

The area around the Citrus Bowl is really nice.

Depends on how much you want to spend. Best spot in town- I am bias but Winter Park (great schools, Park Ave is one of the best "small town" streets in the US, established trees, homes will hold value). College Park is my runner up but the middle school sucks so plan accordingly. A lot of people love Baldwin Park- good schools, newer neighborhood but tiny lots for what you are paying. Maitland was a great place to raise a family and still is because of the schools but the traffic in that area is only going to get worse and make commutes awful. Delaney Park is worth checking out- great new K-8 school there.

Outside of that and you are just picking between cookie cutter suburbs adjusted up and down for price so take your pick- wouldn't live in any of them.

We've considered moving there a few times as we're not too happy where we are, we have a number of friends there, and we're theme park nerds so having those in our back yard would be nice. However, even as expensive as Tallahassee is, it seems cheap to live there compared to any place with decent schools and neighborhoods we checked into.

Is there anywhere there that you can find a decent sized house for 200k or less that also has decent schools, relatively safe, etc...? Every place I've seen would require upper 200's to live which is something I can't afford currently.

Probably not for 200k. I just went through the buying process in the Orlando neighborhoods I referenced above and it was a challenge to find the right place in my $500-600k price range. The 200k prices are long gone in the established Orlando neighborhoods unless you want a total fixer upper or want to be on the front end of a neighborhood turn around like parts of Colonial Town.
