Breaking news first ... Senior safety Nate Andrews tore his pectoral muscle in the Miami game and will need season-ending surgery, Jimbo said after practice Tuesday. They will apply for a medical hardship, and I personally think he'll have a decent chance for it. Will have more on that.
Story: Andrews to miss season
Here are some other notes:
* Jimbo was very high on Tuesday's practice. Said he was "really pleased" and looked forward to seeing if they carried it over to the rest of the week.
* Jimbo asked about the success this year on third-and-short, and he said it was a big emphasis in the offseason and in camp. Said it has helped the offense by extending drives and also kept the defense fresh.
* Jimbo said Deondre Francois felt fine after all the hits Saturday and was able to practice today. Should be fine to play this week. (I looked at him after practice and he definitely looked like he had played hard.)
* Jimbo did say he thinks college football officials should look to protect QBs the way the NFL does. He said he talked to the ACC about late hits, etc., but he didn't share any info.
