The 84th meeting between Florida State (3-0) and Florida (2-0) happens on Wednesday in the Fresh From Florida Sunshine Showdown at 6 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The game will stream live on ACC Network Extra.

Florida leads the all-time series, 45-38. FSU has defeated UF in each of the last six meetings in Tallahassee, with the streak beginning with a 74-72 win on Dec. 28, 2010.

Wednesday’s big game tips off three different visits from the Florida Gators over the next nine days in Tallahassee. Florida State Men’s Basketball hosts UF this Friday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. at the Tucker Center, and the Seminoles and Gators battle it out on the gridiron in a primetime matchup at Doak Campbell Stadium on Friday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.

Both teams are guided by head coaches who excelled in their interim roles and earned their current head coaching tags. Florida Head Coach Kelly Rae Finley led the Gators to their most successful season since 2016 in 2021-22, guiding UF to a 21-11 overall record and defeating five ranked opponents. FSU head coach Brooke Wyckoffwas the Interim Head Coach in the 2020-21 COVID-19 season and led a Seminoles squad predicted eighth in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll to a fourth-place finish and an NCAA Tournament berth.

Freshman guard Ta’Niya Latson was recognized as the ACC’s Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Latson led the conference averaging 27.0 points per game over three games last week. Her 34 points she dropped at Kent State is the highest in the league so far this season.

Taylor O'Brien (leg) and Valencia Myers (concussion protocol) will not play

FSU on a 10-0 run. Seminoles lead 13-3

Not sure how to describe that basket by OMG. A drive and, with her back to the basket, a one-handed shot that went in. We need to find video later.

Probably should have a bigger lead but I’ll take a 12 point lead at the half with only 8 available players against a taller/deeper UF team.

Solid bench play from Valenzuela and Gordon. Massengil showing some offensive versatility as she is not known for her scoring.

I had no confidence coming into this game because this is a REALLY good UF team and we didn’t look great the last two games. They brought in 3 super transfers (a couple who we went after).

To be up 19 without our 2nd leading scorer and without our tallest player, I’m impressed with the ladies tonight.

Latson is special and Valenzuela and Gordon came to play tonight.
