Where do you expect this virus to go? It is not leaving and we will have outbreaks weather we open now, next week, next month, or next year.

that's an interesting take. heck, the worst of the black death was contained to a 4 year period nearly 700 years ago. the world has evolved a bit since then. even the 1918 flu was contained to a 12-month window for its worst effects. no vaccines until 26 years after that either.

COVID is no doubt going to linger, much like any virus, but it would be stepping outside the bounds of any other pandemic to assume that this is how it's going to be in perpetuity.
